The next time I saw you, I was expecting it. You kept calling my house and my mom kept begging me to just talk to you because she was tired of doing it.
"Hey," you said.
I looked up at you and for once, I felt like myself again. "What do you want? And I would greatly appreciate it if you would stop calling my house."
Your smile didn't flatter. "Always so sassy. Such a smartass just like I remember. Why are you giving me attitude?"
I didn't look up at you. "So where is she?"
That's when the light in your eyes disappeared. "She left me and found someone else that makes her happy."
I laughed or let out a loud sob, I can't really remember. I just remember you looking at me, lost and scared.
"Why are you here?"
"I need you."
I smiled.
