//Jacquelyn's pov//

Over the weekend, Cameron stayed over a few times. On Friday and Saturday he slept over, but he had to leave on Sunday. He kept texting me to check up on me and make sure I was doing okay.

I rolled over on my bed and slowly opened my eyes. I grabbed my phone to see if I had any texts, and sure enough, there was one from him.

1 new message from: Cam ☀️

Hey Jackie, just checking in. Text me back when you get this.   Sent 5:47 AM

To: Cam  ☀️

Hey Cammy. Just woke up. I'm feeling okay today, I'll see you at school.   Sent 6:32 AM

After I sent the message, I got out of bed, and grabbed some clothes for the day. (shown at the top) I got my towel so I could quickly shower, and turned the tap on so it would warm up.

After I showered, I blow-dried my hair and curled it at the bottom. I got my phone of its charger after putting on my clothes and some make up, and went downstairs to say goodbye to my parents.

"Bye mom, bye dad, I'll see you tonight." I said with a small smile. They both waved without looking up. I sighed and made my way to the front door. As I walked outside, I noticed a familiar black car parked at the curb. "Cam!" I yelled running up to him. "Hey Jackie." He said simply, embracing me in a hug. "I missed you." I stated. "Me too Jacquelyn. Me too." He replied making me smile. "Have you... Um..." He tried to say. "O-Only once." I replied with a small smile, feeling proud of myself. "That's my girl." He said picking me up and spinning me around. "Let's try to get that down to zero, yeah?" He said hopefully. I nodded, feeling extremely happy now. "We should get to school." I said reluctantly. "Okay princess. Only if you want to though." He said with a concerned look on his face. I nodded and firmly said "I want to show them how strong I can be." While getting into his car. "Then let's go!" He said excitedly.

When we got to school, I noticed people looking at Cameron weirdly. Probably because he was hanging out with me. I tried to tell him that he didn't have to stay with me, but he told me he wanted to.

"C-Cameron. Please. D-Don't do t-this. F-For me." I begged. "Jackie, do you not want me around you?" He asked sadly. "I-I didn't m-mean it like t-that." I said. "I'll leave you alone. It's fine." He mumbled, and started to walk away. I felt hot tears stream down my cheeks as I watched him get farther away from me. I ran to the bathroom and got my wallet out. I always kept an extra blade in there in case.

//Trigger warning//

I slid down the bathroom wall and ran the cool metal against my skin.

This one for not being good enough

This one for being disgusting

This one for being stupid

This one for being naive

And this last one for being you

I watched the dark red blood pour out of my arm, knowing this would be the last time I had to open my eyes in this cruel world. My eyelids became heavy and I felt all the blood left in me rush onto the floor. The lights became dim, and I whispered my last words

I'm sorry.

//Cameron's pov//

During the day, Jacquelyn wasn't in any classes. I was scared, considering her mental state. I suddenly heard the phone ring, and Mrs. Connolly got up to answer it. "Hello? Yeah, she should have been here... One moment." I heard her say. I looked back down at my work, but a minute later she called my name. "Cameron, can you come here." She asked quietly. A chorus of 'oohs' came from the students surrounding me. I just rolled my eyes and walked over to her. "Cameron, they need you in the office. It's about Jacquelyn." She said. "What happened? Is she okay?" I rushed out. "I-I don't know. They didn't tell me what happened." She replied reluctantly. I nodded, and got my stuff, in case I had to leave.

As I was approached the office, I slowed down a bit, and let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding in. I walked into the office and saw the principal with Jackie's phone in her hands. "Cameron Biswel?" She asked carefully. "Y-Yeah. U-Um what's wrong with
J-Jacquelyn." I questioned, my voice sounding shaky. "Jacquelyn has been put into the hospital. Something to do with self harm." She said quietly. I gasped, not being able to speak. "You were the last person she texted. Would you like to meet her at the hospital?" She asked kindly. I nodded furiously, knowing that this was because of me. "Okay then. You can head over to the hospital now. Best of luck." She said with a hopeful smile. I nodded, and quickly walked out the doors of the school, and got into my car.

"Calm down Cameron. She'll be okay. She has to be okay." I said to myself, even though I wasn't quite sure I believed it myself. I drove as fast as the speed limit would allow me, and after a little while, I was parked in front of the hospital. I locked my car and walked up to the receptionists desk. "Is Jacquelyn Benton able to be visited now?" I asked, sounding slightly panicked. "I'm sorry, but Ms. Benton is undergoing surgery at the moment. She may be out in a few hours." She replied numbly. "Thanks." I mumbled under my breath. I took a seat, and waited for news to come.

About 2 1/2 hours later, Jacquelyn still wasn't out of surgery, and I was getting worried. All of a sudden, I saw a nurse in blue scrubs walk into the lobby. "Those here for Jacquelyn Benton, you can see her now." I heard her say. I jumped out of my seat, and almost ran over to the nurse. "Are you here for Jacquelyn?" She asked kindly. I nodded furiously. "Follow me." She replied. We stopped outside of room 196, and a doctor came out of the room. "We have news about Ms. Benton." He said slowly. "She was put into a coma due to blood loss. She has some pretty deep cuts on her wrist, and has been put on a breathing machine. Whether she joins us back in this world or not, is her choice, but whatever you say, she can hear, remember that. Maybe it'll help her choose." He said with a small smile at the end. I nodded slowly, not prepared for what I was about to see. "You can go in whenever you like." The nurse said after the doctor walked away. I took a deep breath, and slowly opened the door.

I nearly broke down into tears when I saw her. Her skin was 6 shades lighter than it usually was, and her bright blue eyes that usually held life and brightness were closed, and I imagined they were dark and murky. I could see a small tint of red on the white sheet next to her left arm. I slowly walked over to where she laid, and gently picked up her hand. "J-Jackie. I'm so s-sorry. This is all m-my fault." I managed to get out before I felt myself start to cry. "I-If you want t-to leave, t-that's okay. I-I know y-you're not happy h-here. I j-just want you t-to know
t-that if y-you do go, I'll b-be strong f-for you." I whispered, gripping her hand harder.
"J-Jackie, I've o-only known you for t-two w-weeks, but I t-think I... I think I-I l-love you." I said without thinking. I looked down at her black nail polish, and started to thank them for not taking it off. It was the only party of her that looked like the Jacquelyn I knew. "I know I l-love you." I whispered.
