//Cameron's pov//

I couldn't stop thinking about Jacquelyn that night. She decided to go home a little while later, and I couldn't stop her. The school bell just rang, signaling that classes are over. I ran to the office, and approached the secretary's desk. "I need Jacquelyn Benton's address." I stated. "Who?" She asked slowly. "Jacquelyn Benton." I stated plainly. "Sweetie, we can't give you that informa-" She tried to speak, but I cut her off. "Please. I need her address." I pleaded. "And how do you know her?" She replied after a while. "I just met her today, but I need to see her." I explained. "Let me see what I can do." She said with a small smile.

About 20 minutes later, she returned with a paper with an address written on it. "Here you go." She said, an amused smile on her face. "Thank you!" I exclaimed, before running out of the office. I ran to my car and put the address into my phone.

17866 Sycamore Rd

15 minutes later, my car was stopped in front of a large house. I ran to the front door, and knocked madly. I heard shuffling behind the door, and suddenly a middle-aged woman that looked a lot like Jacquelyn appeared. "I need to see Jacquelyn please." I asked. "Who are you?" She asked with a confused look spread across her face. "My names Cameron and I met your daughter today. I really need to see her, please." I explained. She hesitated, but nodded and opened the door wider, letting me in. "Follow me." She said. She led me up the stairs, to a room with a white door. "Stay here for a minute, I'll let her know you're here." She said with a small smile. I nodded, and waited for her to come back out.

About 4 minutes later, her mom came back out, and nodded to me, letting me in. Her room had gray walls, with a few posters hung on them. "Hey" I said, approaching her bed.
"H-Hey." She said shakily. "Um, are you okay?" I asked. She nodded a little. "D-Did you..." I said looking down at her arm. She looked down at her white bedspread and said nothing. I let out a small breath and sat down on her bed with her. I wrapped my arms around her gently so I wouldn't hurt her, and pulled her onto my lap. She curled up into my chest which made me smile lightly. "Jacquelyn, w-why?" I said unsure of what to say. I got no reply. I looked down at her, and saw her bright blue eyes closed, and sighed. I decided to try and move her off my lap so she could sleep, but she woke up a little. "C-Cameron... Stay please." She said in almost a whisper. I sighed, but nodded. She smiled a little, and clinged to me tighter. I eventually ended up laying down with her still in my arms, stroking her hair. Suddenly, I heard her let out a small cry. She started stirring a small bit and I got scared. "...No,
p-please..." I heard her whimper. "Jacquelyn?" I asked worriedly. Suddenly her eyes flashed open, and tears began to fall. "C-Cameron.." She cried. "Shhh... It's okay baby girl." I soothed, pulling her back onto my lap.
"T-Thank you" she said in between small sobs. "Jacquelyn, look at me." I said, chuckling a bit. She looked up with wide eyes. "If I didn't want to be here with you, I wouldn't have gotten your address or even done anything, but I'm right here. You shouldn't be thanking me for being somewhere I want to be." I said pulling her closer to my chest. And just like that, she was back to sleep.
