Chapter 1 the reaping

Chapter 1

I wake up and stare down the floor, reaping day comes in one week and I'm about to go see what happened in the past hunger games. It wasa originally for the districts but the rebels decided that there would be one more ten years after the rebellion for the capitol children. I was one of them, after my parents died in the games, they moved me here to be safe since they were from one of the career districts which was one of the most important districts, so I'm told. I'm being escorted by one of the victors to the video I wonder which one it will be, i guess I'll find out in a minute when I meet them outside my door.

I walk out the door and sit on my steps it's been about ten seconds then my dog (Oreo) comes up to me, I pet him for about fifteen minutes when I hear someone walk up, I stand up to see who it is and see Katniss and I can't believe I did this but the next thing I did was sit down and start crying, memories from watching the games make me believe she is the reason my parents and everybody I was named for are dead.

She grabs my hand to bring me to the video, she seems very confused, I'm not too surprised at this since no one knows my name or my parents names except for the peacekeepers who brought me to the Capitol who are now gone because of those lizard people mutts my best friend elizabeth and of course myself. Katniss brings me to the theater with the other 191 kids (yes I counted them, what else would I do?) the video starts with the first hunger games and goes on like that.

Then it gets to the 74th hunger games, I can't stop Crying as Glimmer gets attack by some genetically engineered wasps called tracker jackers, Rue gets a spear to the heart, my mom gets a boulder to the head and my dad gets eaten by mutts that look like werewolves. Katniss has to lift me out of the theater because I'm screaming and she asks me why I cried the loudest when those four in particular died, here's what I said

"My name is Glimmer" she gasps and seems scared but says go on "My middle name is Rue" tears are swelling up in her eyes now and she asks who my parents are, I say "My mother is Clove Sevina and my father is Cato Larek" now she's crying too I assume she feels bad now because she voted for them to do a hunger games for Capitol children.

She decides to take me back to her house, in her house there is lots of different things like her two victor crowns one is Peeta's and the other is hers, she also has a pearl, and one of those things that suck the sap out of trees I wonder where she got those, there is also pictures of three of the past victors Johanna Mason, Finnick who's last name I don't remember, and Annie who's last name I also don't remember but I'm pretty sure she married Finnick because there is a picture of them together at her wedding, I stop looking at her nick nacks at decide to sit down on her very comfortable sofa, she walks in carrying three pieces of cake, I'm guessing Peeta will be joining us.

My suspicions are confirmed when he walks in to the room, I notice there is red marks on his wrists I decide to ask him "what happened to your wrists?" I ask.

"Secret" he replies.

Once we're all sitting down Peeta asks Katniss why I'm here, she tells him the whole story he looks at my tear stained face and tells me because of me, he will let people volunteer for others, it was originally planned that if your name was pulled out, you could volunteer but the president says that the name will be put back in after, this makes me calm down a little bit. I decide to go home to be I say goodbye to Katniss and Peeta and catch the floating bus home, once I get home I get my pajamas on and crawl into my bed with fluffy and soft orange sheets and my orange memory foam pillow I really like orange.

In the morning I walk over to Elizabeth's house and tell her about my experience at the Mellark house Elizabeth's mom and dad are still alive her mom is Johanna Mason and I have never met her dad, that is really weird because she took his last name. We are both so nervous and we promised we would volunteer for each other when this happened, we made this promise when we were six years old.

We decide to go to our hideout inside a really big pine tree, it has developed over the years to turn in to a sparkly orange and purple ribbon covered beautiful place. Which became our house for the next five days we only leave the day before reaping day, because she needed to say goodbye to her parents, her mom really regrets voting yes for the hunger games it's really weird that Elizabeth's name is in there since she's really not a Capitol child, I decide to stop thinking about it and go to bed.

When I wake up, I put on my best clothes, a really big orange ball gown, white gloves, sparkly orange high heels, and my moms old necklace that she wore for her reaping then I walk out the door. Out there, I find Katniss, Peeta, Johanna, Annie and of course Elizabeth we all go to the reaping together but only me and Elizabeth can be together while they draw the names. They take my blood and we go to the reaping, this year there is seats marked with each persons name now the reaping will begin.

Effie Trinket walks up to do the reaping, she shows us a weird video which I don't understand but whatever she says "there is a twist this year, well do boys first and you will be separated into 12 groups, once you are reaped, sit in one of those twenty four chairs that I have set up for you."

Group one boy is Jordan himmlestone.

Group two boy is Ronald Norman.

Group three boy is Robert McClure.

Four is josh niklestone.

Five is Harry Moines.

Six is Joseph jones.

Seven is Daniel juneberries.

Eight is freddy Kolost.

Nine is Lorenzo Hummel.

Ten is Samuel garret.

Eleven is kendall van dough.

Twelve is Mitchell McGuffey.

Now for the girls, they will start with twelve and work their way down, group twelve girl is Raina Norman.

Eleven girl is Lisa jones.

Ten is cashmere koolisk.

Nine is isabelle quintile.

Eight is dream pillow.

Seven is sunshine mcfluffy.

Six is daisy dukes.

Five is Kira Dukeir.

Four is peachy norton.

Three is talia bontim.

Two is Elizabeth Hawthorne, wait Elizabeth Hawthorne "I volunteer as tribute!" i scream at the top of my lungs and run up to the stage, after that all I hear is Kayla Roland before I faint.
