Chapter 2

When I wake, I am in the hospital, I must of hit my head pretty hard. I decide to go take a look around and find Elizabeth waiting outside the door, we hug each other and start to talk "I can't believe you're doing this for me" she says.

"we made a promise at six years old I couldn't break it now" i reply "and I know you would of done the same for me".

" I guess that's true" oh Elizabeth, shes always been so full of herself, but that's why I love her, (as a friend). we say good bye and I go back into my hospital room (413) . I crawl into the sad grey not soft or fluffy sheets rest my head on the sad grey not soft or fluffy pillow and fall asleep.

The first thing I hear when I wake up is Ronald Norman screaming at me to wake up "we need to meet our mentor today!" he yells in my ear (I hope he dies first) now my ear is bleeding.

"gosh, I'm up, you're not supposed to hurt other tributes before the arena I say sleepily "go away I'm gonna get dressed" I slip on some bootlegger jeans, a ruffled orange tank top and some Nike runners. Then I do my hair in a messy bun and put on eyeliner and lip gloss while brushing my teeth, thats one thing you should know about me, I'm a multi-tasker. I walk into the kitchen for breakfast and tell Ronald that he has to leave because we shouldn't socialize with each other and I have to go home.

After Ronald leaves, I go eat breakfast sausage, waffles, and strawberries then I drink a 1 litre carton of milk (I like milk) and go home again on the floating bus. At home I call Elizabeth and ask her to take care of Oreo while I'm gone, she agrees and I decide to go watch some tv.

I turn on the news and the first thing on is the reaping, oh no why did they have to broadcast it? I'm going to seem so stupid. I watch and notice that one person has a smile on their face, sunshine mcfluffy, she had volunteered for a random person and took group seven girl, she was obviously planning this and is pretty confident she will win.

I add her to my avoid list along with Isabelle quintile who looks like she could snap me like a twig and Lorenzo Hummel who has trained since he was five and Is really good at every thing. Then I see myself faint right before effie asks my name, Elizabeth has to tell her and I feel so embarrassed.

Once this embarrassing news cast is over, I decide to pack, I pack my glasses, a flashlight, all seven Harry Potters (I love Harry Potter), some skittles for the train, and sneak my computer, I assume that there will be clothes, makeup and all those things there. At around two o'clock, I hear a knock at the door, I open it to see Elizabeth with a leash and a collar. "Oreo" I say while patting my legs. Oreo comes running in, sees the leash, and runs up to Elizabeth while sniffing the leash and trying to get his head into the collar.

Me and Elizabeth say goodbye, I say goodbye to Oreo and then Elizabeth leaves. I go back and sit on my couch for about five more minutes when the doorbell rings, I go to the door and open it, it's Haymitch Abernathy, I haven't seen him for a while.

"I'm here to drive you to the train station" he says.

"when you're there you'll meet your mentor" wow, a car, I've never

been in one of those.

I run into the car and yell "take me there Mitch!" then see the surprised look on his wrinkled old face.

"have you been drinking?" he asks.

"don't you know sixteen year olds can't drink" I reply "but yes, I have"

We get to the train station after about two hours of driving, then I get my ticket and go find compartment number two. On my way there, I'm day dreaming about not going to the games and my parents being alive when I bump into one of the other tributes, I think she's from group five. "Hi" she says quietly.

"Hello" I answer back "what group are you from?" I ask.

"five."

"I'm from two."

"oh! You're the girl who fainted."

I blush and think about how that's probably what the other tributes call me "my name is glimmer Larek."

"oh... Well mine is Kira Dukeir."

I'm thinking about making an alliance with her so I ask her "what are your strengths mine are arrows like glimmer, jumping like rue, knife throwing like my mom strength like my dad and masonry like my parents district "

"mine are speed and intelligence like my mom, finding the most important things like my dad, knitting, sewing and power like my parents district" I decide to ask her to be allies and she says yes so I go to my compartment.

In my compartment, the first thing I hear is a man yelling, "I'm not mentoring you, you evil thing!" then Ronald screaming.

"you have to mentor me you bumb, if you don't, you'll be breaking the rules you dimwit!"

then the man "you're also not aloud to swear, scream and use mean names against you're mentor!"

"fine, then I'll figure it all out by myself!"

"ok! Thank you!" Ronald storms out of the room, sees me, screams "you're late!!!" in my ear, and goes into his room. I walk into the room and find a tall, dark haired, angry looking man.

"hi" I say quietly.

He stands up and says. "hi, my name is Gale Hawthorne and I will be your mentor".
