proud
praʊd/
adjective
1.
feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one's own achievements, qualities, or possessions or those of someone with whom one is closely associated.

One would assume that the first time you meet someone that their would be as mutual feelings expressed early in the friendship/relationship. A feeling of relief in having another 'option' to talk to confide to and share feelings.

There has always been the wonderful myth of love at first sight , found in their wonderful habitat of sloppy romantic movies and cliché Wattpad books. The myth claims that once setting eyes upon a desirable person of the desired sex, you fall face flat in love.

The idea is somewhat wishful, as there is also another phrase " Don't judge a book by its cover" . Who could one be truly sure of their love simply by seeing a pretty , or even in some cases not as pretty, face and sure they have met their soul mate.

Drake pondered this while holding Nicki in an embrace for those few moments. Was this supposed to be representation of a toast to new beginnings? Was he to be wary of this wonderful being- AKA Nicki, or to be completely open?

Before he could thoroughly think through the consequences, he blurted out the heartfelt comment

' I'm so proud of you'

A phrase normally used by fathers towards their successful sons and daughters after they have achieved something of a high standard

In Drake's perspective, it takes a lot for one to open up to a stranger , talking about their past. Drake has been through a lot , evidently expressed in his songs. But personally he himself would know about how hard it is to open up to someone , especially with women as theoretically you are putting yourself up for vulnerability. One of the reasons why he lived by the 'No new friends' motto.

Upon meeting him Nicki had already invested trust and loyalty towards him even though they were only acquaintances - nowhere near the best friend or girlfriend stage of a relationship.

Knowing this, his hypertension went down slightly, and he seemed to relax his muscles as Nicki put her hands around his torso.

Drake liked that.

On the other hand we had Nicki, who seemed to be holding a trial in her mind with herself on the stand. The major identities where either arguing in favour or not of Nicki's recent actions. Many of the minor identities were either in the jury or watching as a crowd. Many of them added side comments throughout either discouraging or encouraging her.

It had been a long time since she had experienced a moment of genuine affection.

Don't get me wrong, she wasn't rusty or anything- but the very few boyfriends she had were all back in high school. Most of them only went out with Nicki as a dare from a group of friends leaving Nicki in heartbreak over something that never actually existed. Or she was recognised as a level to achieve boys only talked to her to check her off their lists of girls they wanted to bang.

But this was different.

In those few moments, a whole new set of feelings were released... ones neither Nicki or the identities new of. It was at moments like these were all the identities that surround her 24/7 faded - times like these were a new identity was to be born.
