Edward squinted, his green eyes filled with curiosity. He looked bewildered and wide eyed, and really didn't look like he knew where he was or what he was doing. He kept looking around and his eyes kept darting back and forth very fast and he looked like he didn't trust anyone there.

"Have I seen you before?"

"I, uh..." My mind was looking for an excuse as my eyes danced around the room.

"No." I finally replied.

"Oh." He raised his eyebrows.

"Because I think I have. I just don't remember where."

But I do, my inner voice whispered.

"I'm sorry for interrupting. I just... I knew that song you were playing." I blurted out.

"Really? It's just... this song is only played in my family." He replied.

I heard Jane behind me.

"Bella, I— oh." She stopped, staring at Edward. She then lowered her voice.

"Isn't that...?"

"Yeah, it is." I whispered back.

"Your name's Bella?" Edward asked.

"That's strange. The song I was playing just now is called—"

"Bella's Lullaby." I completed his sentence.

"I know the song." I approached the piano and as I stood up, I played the first few notes of my lullaby.

Edward stared at me blankly.

"How...?"

"I'm sorry, oh god." I breathed.

"I shouldn't have—"

I walked out in an instant when I didn't know what else to say. I pulled Jane on the way and we entered the elevator. As the doors closed, I saw Edward come out of the practice room and try to catch us before we could leave, but it was too late for him. I blew out a mouthful of air as my fingers threaded through my hair.

"Oh my god what have I done?" I cringed.

"He probably thinks I'm a creep. I... oh god..."

"Bella, you're stressing too much." Jane told me.

"Anyways, we're going to the diner tonight for dinner, so we have to meet Mom & Alec there."

"Your brother's coming?" I asked.

She looked to her left without turning her head.

"He'll just be at our table for a drink, then he'll have dinner with his friends at another table."

I sighed.

"Okay. Anyways, let's just leave and take a drive around town."

We got into her car and as she drove around town, I felt like I was in a time machine. I recognised a few shops that existed in 1918 still in the same area in my time.

"So, the guy just now— Edward— I think I recognise him." Jane started.

"I think he's from my school. We're in the same year but we take different electives. I think Alec has three or more classes with him."

"Really?" I said. "He's from your school?"

"Yeah, but we've never talked to each other. I'm not sure whether he's Alec's friend. I don't really know much about Alec's social life." Jane shrugged. She glanced at the car time and she raised her eyebrows, sighing.
