Mary Margaret is sitting at a small café. David is walking along the street when he see her, reading a book. He comes over to greet her.
"Hey there." he says.
"David! Hi." she seems so glad to see him.
"Where have you been?" she asks.
"I've been on the ship. I have to make sure everything is going and running the way it's suppose to." he explains. "So how is the leg?"
"Strong." she says.
He sits down with her.
"It's been a while." she says.
"Yeah, it has."
"How is school?" he asks.
"Great." she responds.
She lowers her eyes, as if she doesn't want him to try and read her expression.
"Is something wrong?"
"What?" she says.
"As your friend, I am inclined to ask is there is something wrong." he says.
"Oh, no I'm fine."
"Mary Margaret, I know you well enough now to know that something is wrong."
"I want to say something to you, but I am afraid that you will take it the wrong way." she explains.
"I'm your friend. You should know that whatever you say to me, I will not judge you for it." he says.
She takes a deep breath. "You've been gone for a while."
"I know, I'm so sorry it took me so long to get in touch."
"It's okay. I know that your work is important, but... I missed you." she tells him.
"I missed you too."
"You're the only friend I have in this town, David."
"Well, you are the only decent person to talk to in this town, besides Leroy who is drunk half the time so that doesn't make for conversation." he explains.
She can't help but laugh at the comment. She doesn't understand what it is with this man, but he makes her smile like no one else ever has.
"Since you are not much for dating, how about we just bump into each other somewhere." he says.
"Maybe."
"Where?" he asks.
"I go grocery shopping on Saturday." she tells him.
"You know that is funny. I do my shopping on Saturday too."
She laughs again at his charming comment.
"You really are Charming aren't you?"
"If you say so." he says. He touches her shoulder, softly. "I'll see ya later."
"Okay."
She can't help, but wish his hand would have linger there a little longer.
Saturday has come and Mary Margaret is in the grocery store as she had planned.
Soon David enters the store and begins his shopping. He spots Mary Margaret over in the frozen food section. He approaches her.
"Hey you." he says.
"Hello Charming."
"You know, I think that name I beginning to grow on me." he says.
"I told you."
He grabs two types of meat.
"So what do you recommended? Salmon or Steak?" he asks.
"Salmon." she answers.
"I think I'll take the steak."
"Uh."
"What? Men love steak." he responds.
She smiles.
They leave the store together smiling and laughing.
"I've got to go." she says.
"Mary Margaret."
She turns to him.
"See you tomorrow?" he says.
"Possibly."
She walks away with a small smile on her face.
