David meets up with Leroy on the street. He is enjoying his coffee. Leroy pulls out his flask and takes a drink.
"Are you ever going to stop that?" David asks.
"Keeps me on my toes." Leroy responds.
David just shakes his head.
"So I see you didn't take my advice of staying away from the teacher." Leroy says.
"Leroy, I love her. She is very special to me." David says.
"Well, does this special person know the truth?" Leroy asks.
"She already knows about my past." David says.
"All of it?"
David glances over at him in an uncomfortable manner.
"Leroy, what is going on?"
Leroy lowers his head.
"She contacted you didn't she." David asks.
"She was asking if I had seen you. I told her you were here."
"Damn it, Leroy."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know what else to do."
David makes his way down the street when he hears someone calling for him.
"David!" a young woman is calling for him. "David."
"Oh my God." David says to himself.
A young blonde woman comes running to David. She runs and wraps her arms around his neck.
"David, I missed you." she says.
"Katherine, what are you doing here?" he asks.
"I called Leroy and asked him if you had been around here lately and by fate you were so I decided to come and see you."
She pulls him into a fierce kiss.
Suddenly, David sees Mary Margaret down the street, watching them. Her expression is of a major shock value. She is stunned. She drops her coffee on the ground. She turns around and starts walking away.
"Oh damn. Mary Margaret!" he yells. He pries himself away from Katherine.
"David, what are you doing?" she asks.
David runs down the street, chasing after Mary Margaret.
"Mary Margaret!" he shouts. He finally catches up to her.
"Don't. Just leave me alone." she says.
"I'm sorry. What you say was..."
"What I saw was deception. What I saw was you lying." she says.
He steps in front of her, preventing her from walking away."You have to listen to me. Yes, okay Katherine is my girlfriend, but not fully by my choice."
"How does that make sense?" she asks.
"I have tried to end the relationship, but every time I try she tries to kill herself."
"What?"
"That's why I didn't tell you about her. She can't accept that I don't want to be with her."
"You should have told me."
"Look, I had no idea she was going to show up here. I can't control what other people do."
"No, but you can control what you do and you lied. Even when everyone in this town looked at me like a tramp, I stood by you. You not only lied to me, you lied to her."
"Mary Margaret, please." he begs.
"Let me go."
He tries grabbing her arm.
"Let me go, David!" she now has tears in her eyes.
"I don't want to see you again." she walks away in tears. David sheds a tear for losing her.
"David!" Katherine comes running after David. "David, who was that?"
"Katherine, we need to talk."
Mary Margaret is at her apartment. Her tears mix with the whiskey in her glass. She gets so angry that she throws her glass against the wall.
David is in the cabin. He walks around, recounting all the memories he had their with Mary Margaret. He looks at the bed and remembers touching her, kissing her, taking in her sweet scent. There was never going to be another person like her and he has now lost her.
He gets angry and kicks a chair across the room.
