1 year later
David has been gone from Maine for over a year. He left after the break up with Mary Margaret. He has been in Massachusetts all this time. He has made his way back to Maine for strictly one purpose, to see her again.
David arrives in the town. He sees Leroy coming out of the bar, as he usually does.
"David! You made it back." Leroy shouts.
"It's good to see you."
"You too."
"Where you been?" Leroy asks.
"Massachusetts."
"Wow. What are you doing back?" Leroy asks.
"I'm done with the Navy."
"Really? How did you come to that decision?"
"I just couldn't do it anymore. I do contracting work now."
"You looking to get a job here?"
"Hope so."
Leroy giggles.
"Come on, man. You and I both know that is not why you came back here."
"Have you seen her?"
"She's still at the school." Leroy says.
"Thanks."
He makes his way across the street. Leroy can't help but shake his head.
David reaches the school. Class has been let out. Mary Margaret, who has maintained the pixie cut hairstyle is adjusting things on her desk, when she hears a familiar voice.
"I knew I would find you." David says.
She turns around to see David peering into her classroom.
"I will always find you." he says.
"David. You're back."
"I am. How had everything been? It's been a long time." she says.
"Yeah. I've been pretty good. I quit the Navy."
"Why?"
"I just had to get away from it."
"So what are you doing now?" she asks.
"I'm a contractor. I'm hoping to find some work around here."
"You're staying here?" she asks.
"I would like to."
"David, why did you really come here?"
"I think you already know the answer to that question."
He moves in closer to her.
"May Margaret, we made a mistake and that was mainly do to me. I want you to know that right after I left, I put Katherine in an asylum."
"Did she try to kill herself again?" she asks.
"Yeah, she did. I realized that I couldn't put up with it anymore. After what I dealt with in my past, all the lives I took, I didn't want to be responsible for someone else's death if I could prevent it. She needed the help." he explains.
"I glad you were able to do that for her."
She grabs her books and gets ready to leave the room, but he steps in front of her.
"Mary Margaret. Just like I told you when we first met, I am here if you need me."
"David, there is something you need to know." she begins.
