I am young. It wasn't supposed to end like this. I thought I would've lived longer. But here I am staring into the eyes of death. But let me rewind. My name is Avalon. I am a teenager who was in a car accident when I was little, it scared up my thighs and my stomach. No one knows about what happened to me. And I don't want them to ever find out.
When I was young I was able to live free with who I am. I could show off my burn scars and not worry about anyone judging me, but now I am in a different time, without my parents, with a new foster mom, Christy, who doesn't understand me, and a step brother, Garrett, and step sister, Vanessa, who are jerks to me.
I try my hardest to be normal and fit in, but in high school you are labeled as soon as you walk in the door. I'm just lucky to have Brinley, my best friend. She is the funniest person I've ever met. Whenever I am down or sad she's the one who cheers me up.

I woke up right on time 6:30 as always. I went downstairs to breakfast after getting ready. My step family were all eating. Vanessa was eating her usual, a banana, she eats healthy cause she's a cheerleader. Garrett was eating oatmeal and Christy was having a fruit shake. Everyone looked up as I walked in. I sat down and ate my toast in silence. We got in the car and drove to the Lincoln High School of California. It was a beautiful day outside like it usually is.
Vanessa started talking about her boyfriend Mike. "He is going to ask me to prom any day now I just know it." She squealed. Garrett started talking about football and asking his girl Jane out to prom. Unlike them, I didn't have a special someone so it's just gonna be me and Brinley at the house while Christy is out having a three day spa treatment.
We got to school and all three of us went our different ways. "Hey Avalon!" I heard a familiar voice behind me. I turned around and it was Brinley. "Hey!" I said.
We walked down the hallway to English class and talked about all of the new subjects we had this semester. "I have Triganometry 6th hour" sighed Brinley. "Me Too" I said.Me and Brin got through all of our hours without wanting to scream, which was an accomplishment for us, and I went to her house because my step mom hates it when I have friends over. I ended up staying the night but Christy didn't care, she didn't even realize I was gone. The week went by fast and prom was this Saturday.
"I don't care where you go just don't spend my money." said Christy after I asked to spend the night with Brin to go shopping for prom.
Brin and I went to the mall and I found the perfect dress. It was mid thigh length, hot pink, which complements my tan skin tone, and had a sweetheart neckline, and it was only $15 which gave me more money to spend on shoes. I ended up getting a pair of silver Vans with white outlining. We went back to her house, ate pizza, and watched scary movies, then we went to sleep not wanting to wait till tomorrow to go to prom.
