When Phil woke up the next morning it was to morning sunlight slanting through the window.  He could feel Dan's small breaths tickling on his chest next to where Dan lay his head.  Phil's arm was also tingling from being asleep but moving it might disturb Dan, so Phil chose to ignore it.  Instead he began to think about this, this waking up entangled together, could become their normal now.  He could definitely get used to this.

It was only a couple of minutes later when Dan began to move.  Phil pressed a couple of kisses to the top of Dan's hair that was fluffy with sleep.  That caused Dan to begin moving more, as he protested, claiming his hair was a mess.  Phil just ruffled though it with his hand and explained that he loved it that way.

Dan had to leave shortly after that, as he had work, and Phil walked with him there.  Dan wore Phil's clothes that day, opting for that instead of going home to change.  They both liked how Dan looked in the clothes that were somehow slightly too big even though they were the same height.

When Phil waved goodbye to Dan that morning, smiling at how adorable Dan looked in his hoodie, he couldn't remember a time he had felt more content.  It was as if the part of his life that had been missing, the part he had never realised, was finally filled.

The next few days were filled with spending as much time as possible together.  They baked cookies, or more Dan bakes cookies while Phil tried to distract him, and they spent hours just showing each other their favourite songs.  Dan called a few places trying to figure out a next step.  He ended up booking an appointment with a psychiatrist in a couple weeks and made Phil promise to go with him.  He hadn't been feeling as numb lately though, which was a big improvement.  Dan thought that maybe this was happiness, but he just needed a little help getting the rest of the way.

Phil began to write more too, not just during the rain.  It was Dan's suggestion, since Dan had recently begun to try to pursue his hobbies more.  Phil still never let Dan see what he wrote, always pulling the notebook away when Dan tried to sneak a glance.  He was rather self conscious that the writing wasn't good enough.  However, he did promise that Dan would get to see soon (avoiding defining the slippery concept of "soon").

Throughout all that time there was a not a hint of rain. Which surprisingly disappointed Dan more than Phil, as it seemed his was planning something that required rain.  So when the clouds broke the next week, Dan practically pulled Phil out the door.

"I want to go back to the cave you showed me last time," Dan said as they walked towards the beach.  "I have this kinda crazy idea that I think you might like." Dan said with a glint in his eyes that Phil wasn't used to seeing.

"I hate secrets though!" Phil pouted.  They had made to the beach and began to walk along the smooth sand as the rain continued falling, it seemed it was getting heavier the longer they walked.

"It won't be a secret much longer," Dan grinned, "But it's a pretty solid idea."

"Just tell me," Phil wasn't quite ready to let it go.

"No," Dan bumped their shoulders together teasing and grabbed Phil's hand.  "I hope you're into it though otherwise you're going to think I'm really weird."

"Okay, now I'm kinda concerned."

"It's fine," Dan laughed, he was feeling better today than he would have thought possible had it been a month ago.  "We're almost there anyways."

The did make it to the cave soon, though it was really more of an overhang to shield them from the rain than a cave.  Dan's hair was in curls and Phil's was stuck to his forehead, but that was only before dan pushed it back for him.  Phil set down his backpack because even with dan rushing him out the door, he hadn't forgotten it.
