"What the fuck are you doing!"
Adam boomed from the car as I ran with the kid. He struggled, my arm wrapped around his ribcage I tried to run to the car as fast as I could. Fifty yards or so away the mom began screaming.
"Hey! Let go of my kid!"
"Let go! Let go!" The kid struggled in my arms.
So far, not a good start.
Adam put down his camera, his face in disbelief. "Alex! This isn't a good idea!"
I ran around the hood of the car, opening the passenger side door, shoving the kid inside. The kid pounded the window as I climb into the driver side, Adam was still irate, the kid started screaming now.
"Help! Help! Help!" He screamed.
"Alex!"
"Shut the fuck up!" I had to think, I started the car, slamming on the gas. The car lurched; I looked into the rear view mirror to still see the mom giving chase, sprinting in her pink flip flops.
"Dude, what the fuck is this." He stared at the kid, and back to me, his eyes wide and intense.
"Stop it," I said trying to keep my eyes on the road in front. The sun cascaded through the windshield, and as fast as I was going, I needed more focus than Adam jabbering.
"Look, Adam, it's fine, Were just driving around the block! That's it! There's nothing else is going to happen, get the camera."
"No, I'm not filming this," Adam said, he relaxed, leaning back in the chair, whipping sweat from his brow.
"Adam, you have to. You promise me."
"No, This is bullshit! You promised me nothing would go wrong."
"First," I said. "Nothing has, His mom won't even have enough time to call the cops because we will have him back in five minutes if you just can take out the fucking camera!"
"No!"
"Adam, if you don't take out the camera, I'm going to punch you right in the fucking face. Take it out. Now."
Adam just stared. I couldn't believe what came out my mouth. Those were my words, my thoughts. Adam still stared, huffed, reached down and grabbed the camera, holding it up.
"Recording."
I made a right at the next corner, gunning the car down the street, trying to focus on the road as I spoke.
"Hey! It's Alex here; you know how I said how easy it was to kid nap a kid? Well here we are, we have a new friend! Right off the street, too!"
I gestured with my eyes for Adam to move the camera to the back seat, the kid laid now, crying in his hands.
I said, "Don't worry folks! He's a professionally trained to look scared, he's fine, just fine!"
Adam moved the camera back to me, I slowed the car as it crawled to a stop.
"See folks? It's just easy as it sounds, there's a lesson to be learned here! Parents, keep your children on a leash, tied up on a tree! And kids! Don't trust strangers! Thanks for watching!"
I paused, turning the wheel and making another right.
"Did you get it?" I slowed the car down.
"Yeah, got it." Adam said. "Can we drop him off now?"
"Yeah, let's drop this little Asian mother fucker off."
I looked for the next right I could make, fuck.
Construction.
Neon cones lined the street, a massive white truck blocking me from going down the street.
"Fucking construction, always at the worst ti—"
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" Adam shouted pointing through the windshield, but I heard what it was he was pointing at before my eyes even made contact.
Sirens.
