Chapter 9: Spending the Night

"Follow me please" the guard said leading us down a long hallway. "Your rooms are just down here." he said, indicating three doors at the end of the hall. "The far left one is yours sir." he said as he opened the door for Jake "And this one is for our saviour, the chosen one whom we are truly grateful for."
"Please, I probably won't be as much help as the other two." I said quickly.
"Oh nonsense. YOU are the chosen one after all. And last but not least here is your room my dear." the guard said opening the third door.
"Er...um...thank you..." Maddie stuttered smiling at him with a goofy grin.
"And may I just say nice ring." the guard said winking as he walked away.
Maddie looked like she was about to faint.
"Cool it Maddie" I said, "We have way more important things to think about right now."
"Aw let the girl have her little crush." Jake grinned winking at my sister. Maddison turned bright red and covered her face.
"Well....night...." She said quickly before running into her room and closing the door.
"Night Jake" I said turning towards the door, " Oh, and I wanted to thank you."
"Thank me for what?" He asked.
"For coming with us, for agreeing to help, for being my best friend."
"I'm your best friend?"
"Well....um....yeah....I mean......"
"Maggie!" Jake cut me off. "I just want you to know that you're my best friend too."
"But what about all those people that you hang out with? The guys that follow you around like you're their leader? The girls falling at your feet......"
"None of them compare to you. You have always been my best friend, from the moment I met you."
"Jake.....I don't know what to say.....I....."
"Mags......for a long time I have been wondering something, I was going to talk to you about it at the party, but I guess now we aren't going." He stopped and sighed.
"What is it?"
"Well I was wondering what you would say to being......maybe......more than friends......."
"Jake what are you saying?"
"Maggie I think you know what I'm saying. I have to admit I have had a bit of a crush on you for a long time."
"But why me? I mean you've never seemed to have much of an interest in girls before."
"I was waiting for the right one. Those girls that are, well as you put it 'falling at my feet', are just stupid little girls that like me because I work out, you on the other hand have been my best friend from the first day I met you. I knew from that moment why I had never had an interest in other girls. Something was making me wait for you."
"Jake...."
"I understand if you don't want to, I did spring this on you suddenly......."
"Jake...."
"I completely understand if......."
"Jake!"
"What?"
"Just shut up and kiss me already"
"Really? Like are you su-" but he never finished the sentence because I attacked him and kissed him.
