Flashback - 3 years ago.

"Mum! Stop, calm down!" I yelled as she hurled another bottle at me.

I clutched my hair. Her aim was harsh and direct. A couple of gashes will show up tomorrow.

"Get away from me!" She shreaked, "You ruined me..."

Another day picking up broken glass.

I looked at the door. I could hear a rattle of the door knob.

"Lilah? Vera! Vera what are you doing?" I walk over to my father and fall into his arms, his firm protective arms wrapping around me.

"Michael? You weren't supposed to come back until next week..." Her voice hitches.

"And that gives you an accuse to use our daughter as a punching bag?" He retorts. "Lilah come with me." He turns and faces me. He unwrapped his arms from around me but took my hand instead.

I love my dad.

Loved....

Lilah's POV

"Coats off class. This isn't burger king" Mr Fitt sighs, "You can't have it your way." How original. He uses that phrase every week.

I kick my bag under my chair and slump down into my seat. Another day at hell.

I catch the attention of my dear friend Sebastian, who was clearly eyeing up some boy sitting two rows down from him.

"Seb" I hiss, "Seb! Are we meeting tonight?" He gives me an over the top wink and a thumbs up, implying we are, indeed, meeting up at the rock. Our rock. Well, ours and Olivia's. And the rest of the public. Depends who can find it but for our sake, it's ours.

'Ours.' I think I say out loud.

Flashback 2 years ago

"Don't worry, that old cow can't get you no more." Were the last words I ever heard from my father. And in a twisted way I guess I laugh about it sometimes.

The lights, the car horns and the screams.

Figure the rest out yourself.

"Where's Aaron?" I ask, my voice raspy.

"His statement's tomorrow." Mum answers, unusually calmly, "Until then, he's not setting a foot in this house."

"But after that. After he's out of Juvie. He's coming back home, isn't he?"

I don't get a reply. I'm pretty sure I know the answer but what kind of mother doesn't want their child?

Lilah's POV

"How many times. How many times do I have to tell you. Look where you're going and maybe by some mirical you won't trip and fall on a person." Sebastian face palms.

"For the last time, I was attacked." I stress, "Viciously attacked." He wasn't buying it.

"Oh please, you must admit, falling right into that guys arms was no accident. You slick." Olivia rolls her eyes "And I'll gladly and bluntly admit it; you got yourself a huge hunk of man candy there sister" she shrugs

"I'll second that" Sebastian sighs

"He was not in to me." I put my foot down. This was stupid. I didn't even care. It was embarrassing and I don't think I'll ever hear the end of it. I just hope whoever that guy was, he forgets about the whole matter.

But then again, what kind of story would this be if he didn't? Mwahahaha forth walls all around ;-)

"Fine. Let's agree to disagree as they say. I can see the rock anyway. Hurry up slow pokes." She mocks and picks up her speed.

A/N sooo? How was that? I thought this chapter might give you a bit of an insight to Lilah's past.
