It was the middle of the night and pitch black outside with only a little light from the stars in the night sky. Lizzy and Jakob started on the move towards the dark forest to seek out the ghost herd. That's when they came across Toby. They had to find a way around Toby without being caught. They waited for Toby to go on his nightly check around the whole perimeter, that's when they'll make their move.
Lizzy and Jakob waited a while before Toby left. They started to move as fast as they could without making any noise but Jakob wasn't watching where he was going and stepped on a twig. The twig snapped causing a loud cracking noise which caught Tobys attention. Toby came charging over towards the two foals. Lizzy and Jakob took off towards the woods away from Toby. The two foals ran for their lives away from Toby but he was fast. Luckily they got to the forest in time and lost him.
Lizzy and Jakob stood their for a minute and looked at each other trying to catch their breath. They started their journey towards the dark forest on their quest to find the ghost herd. They both stopped dead in their tracks when they heard a loud whiney. They knew that the herd would be looking for them, so they bolted farther into the woods to get as far away as they could. Lizzy and Jakob finally made it to the river on the other side of the woods. By this time the sun was already up and beating down on the two foals. They had to cross the river and they both knew it but it was a big river. They decided to swim across before it got too late.
Jakob was the first to take a step and start swimming, Lizzy followed soon after. The water was freezing cold and if they stay in it too long they might get hypothermia and die. They were half way across the river and they started to get tired. They were out of breath and extremely exhausted. Lizzy started to slow down and Jakob started to get worried. Lizzys eyes started to close and her breathing got harder. Jakob kept telling her that she could make it and to keep going but Lizzy couldn't go any farther. Jakob was worried that Lizzy had hypothermia but they kept going.
Finally they made it across the river and by that time it was getting dark outside. They decided to sleep in the grass near the river. They were both cold and wet but there was nothing either of them could do but wait for the sun to come up and pray they make it through the night.
