You looked at the photograph of your mother, the old photograph wrinkled and faded from the years. She and your father left each other, when you were young. You could still remember the day she packed up her stuff and walked out of the small home. You could still remember your father's face, as he watched her leave him.

You knew you never wanted to have your heart broken like that. Yover wanted to feel that sort of pain. You're friends had all fallen in love, and they always asked you. "When will you find your love?" Your answer would always be the same.

"Never; I don't believe in love."

But, there was one exception, Lucifer. Yo met him at a coffee shop, he understood you. Why you felt the way you did. He made all you confusion disappear. You knew he didn't love you, so you kept lying to yourself saying you never loved him. It was easier that way, you didn't want to have your heart broken as well.

You sat in your small apartment listen to the radio as you worked on a essay for college. One of your favorite songs came on and you smiled, it fit how your life was.

Maybe I know somewhere deep in my soul

That love never lasts.

And we've got to find other ways to make it alone.

Or keep a straight face.

You heard a knock on your door, standing you walked to it. "Lucifer?" You asked, you smiled as he nodded and walked in. He turned to face you.

"I hate people, every last one of them." He said, "I would rather see them all dead then spend an hour with anyone." He kept ranting, you bit your lip listening. "Yet, you're the only one I can stand."

"Lucifer-" You were cut off by him kissing you on the lips. He held your face between his hands. You closed your eyes in bliss.

The only exception.
