"We get close, we fall apart. Red roses, broken hearts and we don't know which way to go."

Taehyung waited impatiently for the ringing on the other end of the phone to stop. He was biting his nails at the worry your voice would call out from the other end.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

One more and it goes to voicemail.

Ri--

"Ah, hello?"

Silence.

Taehyung panicked internally. He was not ready for this yet. It's too late to hang up. He licked his lips and croaked out a small hello in an uncharacteristically low voice.

"Who is this? Sorry, I didn't see the number."

"Oh ah, it's... it's me."

"Tae?" An audible groan/sigh was heard from your end of the call.

"Please! Don't hang up. Have you been listening to my messages?"

"I have, Tae, and I'm honestly more confused than I was before. I've known you since we were kids. What the fuck?"

Taehyung sighed deeply, carefully choosing his next words.

"I will tell you, everything. Start to finish. Would you be... Could you meet me somewhere?"

Nervously, Taehyung paces the floor of his grungy looking apartment. Biting his nails, pulling his hair, anything to keep him from yelling out in frustration and sadness while waiting those few seconds for your answer.

"Of course, Tae. Know I haven't completely forgiven you for what happened, but I can't hate you."

He did a little jump for joy, roughly landing his feet back on the foor with a thud.

"Tomorrow? Where we first met. Neighbourhood playgroud?"

"I work tomorrow, so does 5:30 sound okay?"

"It sounds fine. Thank you, and good bye."

"Good bye, Tae."

He removed his phone from his ear, staring down at it in disbelief.

"Holy fuck. You did it Tae."

Taehyung dragged his feet up the small amount of stairs to his room. He stripped down and started a warm shower.

Overthinking things was always Taehyungs strong suit. That's part of what fucked up his relationship with the one thing that ever made him smile anymore. Overthinking the smallest of gestures. He turned them into a huge catastrophe when in reality, it was more like Jungkook only shifted to be comfortable.

The only thing that Taehyung is sure of right now is that he needs to pull himself and his story together. He needs to be mentally ready to physically say the words he has to tomorrow.

Taehyung exits the shower is somewhat of a good mood, getting to sleeping clothes, his brain stops.

He has to spill his guts tomorrow. He has to figure out how to word it. He has to face his childhood befriend for the first time in a year and a half.

Taehyung didn't sleep that night.

The song I refrenced up there is Drawing the Line (English Version) by Royal Pirates. It's my jam right now. I might have had it on repeat while writing this chapter. Whoops!
