Ch.5 / Heart of Fire

Skye's P.O.V.

I zip up the hoodie Mrs. Shay gave me and walked out of school. You'd think May would get pretty warm, but the temperature here likes to troll everyone. I check my phone - 5 new messages from Alicia. Alicia is my older cousin, and GOD she's the most clumsy person I know.

A - Hi hi hi !!!!!

A - Skye? Do you wanna talk to me or ... ?

A - SKYE TALK TO MEEEEE

A - Skylar Astrid Kyle. Answer your freaking phone.

A - Skylaaaarrrrrrr answer meeeeeee!

I smirk and start typing.

S - Yo, what's up?

A - I GOT TICKETS TO BVB!!!!

I stare at my phone. She can't be serious.

S - You're kidding.

A - Nope! Call me :D

I call her, asking how the hell she got them. She said Songkick **#NOTSPONS - Author** notified her saying they were coming soon, and she thought she could get tickets for herself and for me. I was squealing, thanking her over and over again. I finally hang up, walking to my house with my idiot grin on.

"HEY SUSIE! GUESS WHAT??" I yell as I walk into my house.

"You're going to finally call me mom?" she answers, excitedly.

I laugh, "Maybe someday. But no, Alicia got tickets to Black Veil Brides!"

"Oh, that's awesome! It's good you're making friends at that school!"

I awkwardly replied, "She's my cousin"

"Right! Well ... uhhmm ... okay", she says back, awkwardly walking away.

"So can I go????"

"We'll see... oh and a sweet boy named ... Torre, I think ... called here not too long ago asking for you. You going to call him back?"

I froze. "W-what? What did you say to him?"

She gives me a confused look. "Not much, just said you were out. But he said he was friends with you and it was urgent"

I close my eyes, trying to clear my head. I was a nobody before the forest accident, why are the Shay brothers so interested in me? Should I explain my forest accident to anyone? We'll see.

I sluggishly head to my room, not wanting to call him back. I look around my room, trying to find my stuffed animal Bambi, which always made me feel better. I hugged him, finally deciding I should probably call him back. I redial, hoping I don't end up getting him on the line.

Torre answered after 2 rings, "Hello beautiful, I'm delighted you called back! A little bit surprised though, good thing you don't want to piss of a football player Ms. Kyle".

I roll my eyes, forgetting it was a phone call and he couldn't actually see me. "Yeah, yeah, what did you want?"

"Have you changed your mind? I could gladly dump Lucy, she's a fucking bitch lately".

I laugh, "You think I would actually date you? You're a creep Torre. Tell me, who did you lose your virginity to?"

No answer.

"Thought so. Leave me alone Torre. I'm leaving in a few days because I'm going to a Black Veil Brides concert. Please don't ruin this moment for me, okay?"

"Seriously? Black Veil Brides? They're those fagots that wear makeup, right? Alex even agrees, they're shit! CG is soo much better!"

What? Alex agrees?

"CG?"

"Childish Gambino"

I snort. "Childish Gambino, eh? You know there's CHILDISH in his name and you call Black Veil Brides pathetic?"

"Shut up or I'll make you shut up".

"Ooooh trying to scare me now? Nice try tough guy. Stop talking to me." I angrily hang up, hugging Bambi as I slowly start to cry.

Steve's P.O.V.

I walk with Alex back to my house, both of us heading up to my room. "Soo, what's Skylar like?" I asked in a sexy voice.

"Blonde, blue eyes but she wears brown contacts ... she seems distant, and my mother seems to be keeping something from me about her. I want to figure out what it is. Also, why the fucking hell would she be alone in that forest with nothing covering her, plus her clothes and iPod left a mile away?"

I slowly zoned out and stopped listening to his rambling as I'm searching something a guy in my computer tech class told me to do. Alex keeps talking on and on about Skylar, while I'm giggling about the search. Alex pauses, "You okay Stevie?"

"Ahaha, yeah! I went onto thesaurus.com and searched 'Ninjas'. My computer told me - ahaha - 'Ninjas cannot be found'. Well played Ninjas, well played ... ahaha"

He laughs with me, even though it wasn't as funny as it seemed. After a while, he grabbed his phone and started texting someone - it led to a FaceTime call with Skylar.

"Hey, Skye, what's up?" he asks, as him and I lay down on my bed, looking at her. I have to admit, she is a pretty girl.

She bites her lip, hugging a deer looking stuffed animal, raising her eyebrow as smiles shyly.

"Oh, sorry, this is Steve Greyson, my friend. Steve, meet Skylar Kyle"

"Best friend, actually. And hi Skylar! Nice to meet you!" I chirped, grinning.

She smiles a little, and I saw some tears running down her cheek. I thought about asking her about it, but I decided to let her tell us what happened.

"Hey guys." She hugs her stuffed animal tighter and says quietly, "I just called Torre ... so that was interesting. OH, ALSO I'M GOING TO A BVB CONCERT WITH MY COUSIN!!"

"Oh ... Cool!", he answered trying to sound excited for her. I know he doesn't really like that band, but I wish he would be a better liar.

"Anyways, what happened with Torre?"

"He wanted me to be his girlfriend again because Lucy - I think - is being a 'fucking bitch' lately, then he was complaining how pathetic Black Veil Brides was. I had to end the call because I was on the edge of crying. I didn't want him to hear me cry. So uh, deal with my tears now".

I honestly felt so sorry for her, she seems so precious. I never thought Torre could be this rude to anyone. I really like him, and I think maybe somehow I could change him. Not just for Skylar, but for everyone. Alex started freaking out about how Torre is so mean to her, and he would beat him up when he went home. Skylar smiled a little, her tears slowly going away. We said our goodbyes as my mom comes in.

"Chicken nuggets anyone?"

**I recently republished these chapters (it's 2018 now ayyye) and I think I forgot to mention that my friend and I created a spinoff of the Black Veil Brides scene. It is crazy, so if you want to check it out it's on my account called "Saved By Bands / OC's X Various Bands". We made one chapter of BVB published, and there is a draft that we never finished about BTS.

Side note, I've been thinking of a new story idea! It takes inspiration of "The Doll Collector" and I'm super excited to share it soon. Stay tuned!
