-Jamison-

My heart sinks to the bottom of my chest as I say those words. The words I never ever wanted to hear or say. She finally looks at me. Her eyes dark, turning darker by the minute. I begin to panic. All around her stand five shadows, all of them the same. They mock her posture, and they become like people. Visible, very visible, and pitch black. They're easy to see against the white house. This scares me even more.

Why isn't she moving? Why won't she come back? These questions echo around in my broken mind and I start to back up. Lainna doesn't look or seem the same. She tilts her head to the side, her eyes black, even the whites. Her eyes are glossy like glass marbles. White tears stream down her face and she smiles.

"What's wrong, Jamison?" She says in a sing-like voice. "Don't you want to stay?" Her voice changes and gets deeper at each sentence. Like a scratchy, demonic voice. "I thought you loved me." She puts her head up so it's not tilting anymore. She throws her head back and gasps for air, bringing her hands up to her neck like someone's choking her. There's nothing there. The shadows disappeared when she started talking.

"Lainna!" I cry out. "No! Don't let them take you!" I watch her struggle to get to her feet, but they just pull her back down. My heart is breaking any second I watch. I wish I could help her, but I can't. I'm useless at this point. They drag her into the house and slam the door. I run to the door and start sobbing. I bang my hands on the door, but it won't open. She's gone, and there's nothing I could do about it. I walk to the porch swing and sit on it. I put my hands to my face and start crying more.

I feel someone sit next to me and I look over, my hands still near my face. There's no one there, but there's someone there. I wonder if it's Lainna's ghost, or is it one of the demons that took her. I put my head back down and start crying again. I can't control the tears, they fall like rain in a storm, and I feel like a puddle. I still feel someone next to me and I look over again, losing hope every time.

I look over just one more time and she's there. Lainna is sitting next to me with a little smile on her cute little face. I feel like smiling too, so I do. Then she's suddenly gone, like someone wiped her away with their hand. My smile drops and I feel nothing.

This is what Lainna feels like all the time.
