Mitch had adjusted well by the time it was twelve o'clock. He had stopped being so rude, and he had even apologized, not just to Adam but to Ty as well. The human of course had shaken it off and assured him that it was fine, and the red-winged fairy had stopped crying also.
Ty was now wandering about the hallways on his level, pacing as he got lost in thought. 'How am I even gonna find them?' He wondered. 'I don't know where that man could possibly have hidden an entire colony of fairies, I don't know where that man's room is even...' He sat down in a chair and took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. 'There's so much to do, yet so little time...' He took a shaky breath and let his head bow, staring at his shoes. 'Why did I agree to even help them? Did I just feel sorry for them?' He sat in silence for a few minutes before the answer dawned on him.
'Because they have so much to lose.' If their colony was gone for good, then they'd be the last of their kind. They would be scared, alone, helpless, a dying breed doomed to extinction. They didn't deserve that, no one did.
Before Ty could continue his thoughts, he heard a thump from inside the room he had checked out, and he sighed, getting up and opening the door. The room was an absolute mess. His spare clothes were scattered everywhere, and the snacks he had packed were out on the beds. The fairies were nowhere to be found.
He sighed and closed the door behind him, taking a serious glare sweeping across the room.
"Adam?" He called out. No response. He sighed. "Seto? Jason? Mitch?" There was a small rustle in his bag, and he edged over to it, keeping quiet before suddenly lunging forward and prying the bag open. Jason yelped and cowered under the human's sharp look, and Ty quickly relaxed.
"Oh... sorry Jason," he apologized. The little cyan fairy nodded timidly, taking another bite of the pretzel in his hands. "Where are the others?" Jason's expression went to panicked and guilty, and he averted his gaze. Ty changed his expression to a more kind one, and he kneeled down to the little fairy's eye level. "Jason, please," He said quietly, making the fairy shyly glance at him. "Where are they?"

"Are you sure we should be doing this?" Seto hissed, nudging Adam. Adam nodded, leaning forward a little to peek past the end table in the hallway.
"Yeah why not? Ty can't spy on this guy as well as us," he replied.
"Hey!" Mitch suddenly hissed, tugging on Adam's sleeve and pulling him back. The male human that they were keeping an eye on had just entered the hall, not seeing the fairies. He casually walked over to a door, looking both ways before unlocking it and entering it.
"Now's our chance!" Adam yipped quietly, about to dart forward when something gently pinched his wings, making him start in surprise.
"You three," Ty was crouched on the other side of the end table, having reached forward and stopped the yellow fairy from moving. "--are in big trouble." Adam pouted and squeaked when the human proceeded to scoop him up, then set him down in his chest pocket before collecting the others and putting them in his pockets. He then quickly got up and retreated back to his room, Jason flitting back and forth nervously across the beds.
"Jason!" Adam protested. "You were supposed to keep him from stopping us!" Ty shut the door a little loudly, making all of the mystical creatures flinch in response.
"No." His tone was harsh. "He did the right thing-- what were you thinking!?" Adam opened his mouth to answer, but got a sharp tug on the sleeve from Seto that silenced him. "You're trying to rescue your colony, not ensure their imprisonment! Whatever that man's up to, I'm sure they'll be fine for now, but you have no right to act rashly!" Adam was wise enough to hold his tongue at this point, but he was hurt.
"B-but-but-" He whimpered.
"No 'but's, do you understand?" Adam shrank down and sniffled quietly, miffed.
"B... But-"
"I'm sure even Ian would agree with me right now! He wouldn't want you to just throw your life away like that!" That got to Adam, and he fell silent, sniffling and bowing his head. Seto sighed quietly and pat his troubled friend on the shoulder.
"Ty," he said quietly. Ty stopped and fell silent, realizing he had gone too far. He sighed inwardly and slowly sat down on the floor, pulling Mitch out of his jeans' pocket and setting him down on his thigh before rubbing his eyes.
"... I'm sorry," he said quietly. Adam didn't answer, only nestled deeper in Ty's chest pocket. Seto sighed again and flew up, landing on the young human's shoulder.
"I've seen him like this before," He told the brunette quietly. "He'll just not talk for a little while, then he'll come around." Ty nodded, shrugging his shoulders a little as the purple fairy continued. "I know you didn't mean it, you were just worried, and we're sorry." Ty nodded again, and Seto went back to Adam and coaxed him over to where Jason was anxiously perched. Mitch glanced up at Ty as if he expected the teenager to yell some more, but when Ty gave no response, the red fairy fluttered after the other three. Ty sighed wearily and scratched the back of his head, shifting his weight before slowly standing up and going over to his bag.
"... How about something to eat?" he offered quietly. The four fairies nodded, and he ended up sharing a bag of chips and a movie with them, which got them to settle back down.
About halfway through the movie, Ty stole a glance at Adam, seeing that he hadn't touched his share of the chips.
"... can I talk to you Adam?" He asked quietly. The other three shared looks, and Adam glanced wordlessly at the human before hesitantly nodding. Ty slowly got up and let the fairy clamber onto his hand, then left the others and headed into the bathroom, closing the door to give them privacy.
"... I wasn't acting rashly." Ty looked down at Adam with sympathy.
"I know you weren't," he murmured. "I crossed a line." Adam stood up and rolled his shoulders.
"I-I just-I-" He sighed, flustered, and fluttered on the counter, glancing at the mirror. "I just worry. I-I'm scared that-that I'll be alone." Then he leaned forward and squinted a little. "Wait, is that me?" He inquired. Ty smiled a little and nodded.
"Yeah, that's a mirror," he answered quietly.
"Huh." Adam fondled his clothes a little. "I look good." The human giggled at the fairy's fascinated vanity, and Adam glanced at Ty's reflection with a grin. "See, that's who I am," he continued. "I like making people laugh. I like making fairies-- and humans now, I guess-- happy. There's just a part of me that craves attention." Then his humor fell, and his shoulders slumped a little. "I told Ian once... He called me vain, said that it was selfish. Told me that I needed to care about the future of the colony. I guess I was just trying to prove him wrong, that I could do both..."
"It's not vain." Ty went down on his kneels to go to eye level with Adam. "It's who you are; that's not selfish." Adam turned around and smiled a little.
"Really?" Ty nodded.
"Yeah of course." Then he glanced at the door, then looked back at the little yellow fairy. "So, you wanna finish watching the movie?" Adam perked up and eagerly nodded.
"Yeah!" Ty smiled and let him hop onto his arm, then carried him back into the living room. Jason scuttled out of Ty's spot and returned to his original seat, allowing Ty to sit back down. However, Adam didn't return to his spot on the armrest. Instead, he moved to Ty's shoulder, nestling comfortably against his neck. Ty smiled contently, keeping his eyes on the tv screen, but he was glad that Adam forgave him. He let his head rest against the back of the couch, and they watched the rest of the movie in a friendly silence.
