Since it was only the afternoon and their great plan was going to occur in the middle of the night, Ty decided that they should all sleep for a little bit to have their energy. The fairies settled down in the nice comfy bed next to Ty's as the human slept-- but they could not sleep. Their minds were whirling with worry for their colony. Were their friends ok? Where was Ian? Would they get them out in time, before the others became nothing but exhibits?
Seeing that the others couldn't sleep, and recognizing his duty as a healer to ensure their good health, Seto sighed and sat up in the slight darkness, which their wings were illuminating."How about a story?" He suggested, knowing fairies were easily comforted. Adam perked up immediately.
"Ooh oh oh! Yes yes yes!" He chattered excitedly. Jason giggled and sat up too, Mitch giving Ty's turned back a wary glance before sitting up and nodding in quiet agreement. Seto thought for a moment before smiling, and he began to speak.
"Well... this tale is an old one... Long ago, when the fairies first existed, there was one among them who was the greatest. His name was Fae, and he was the discoverer of fairy magic." Adam listened with wide eyes, scooting a little closer to his purple-winged friend. "Fae was wise. He was strong, and he used magic wisely, but experimented many times with it. One day when he was out in the meadow when he met a creature. He was tall, he was like fairies but wingless; he was a human.
"The human posed fascination with Fae, but didn't hurt him like most today would. He simply smiled in wonder and reached out, allowing a perch for Fae when the fairy said he was tired. Fae asked the human for food and water, and the human gave up the last of his food and water for the magical creature. Fae then, after being satisfied, said, 'Thank you dear creature. For I know we are similar and yet different, you have offered me the last of your supplies. May your heritage and my descendants be forevermore allies.' And it was with that the fairy stretched his hand out and blessed the kind human. The spell the great winged sorcerer had bestowed upon him was a special one, one that no other magic wielder had ever been able to master-- to be merged together as one against any threat of nature, fairy and human as one, magic and friendship... together."
"What does that mean?" Jason asked in a hushed tone, his cyan eyes gleaming in wonder.
"Well according to the scrolls of the scribes," Seto started, "It means that upon inciting the designated spell, anyone who is the children of Fae's children may turn into magic, becoming one with a descendant of that human's child, making them one... And blessing the human with their magic, and their entire being." There were no words spoken, then Mitch the pessimist huffed.
"Of course, that's just a story," he pointed out contrarily. Jason rolled his eyes.
"Oh come on Mitch, don't ruin the mood," he whined. Adam however, stayed silent for a moment, rather fascinated still.
"... Seto," he suddenly spoke up. "How many of Fae's descendants are left?" Seto sighed thoughtfully, rocking back on his haunches.
"... Well..." He answered slowly. "The line of Fae had been so blurred, I'm pretty sure no one is left..."
"And the human?" Adam probed. "What about him?" Seto lifted his gaze and let his hoodie slide off the top of his head, revealing his warm lavender eyes.
"Now that Sky... I have no idea." Ty suddenly stirred and slowly turned over, making all fairies hush up. Adam blinked a few times at the gentle "giant" he had bonded with, and he got up and fluttered over to his bed, crouching before Ty.
"Ty?" He meeped. Ty frowned in his sleep, then he opened one eye, looking drowsy as his gaze eventually settled on the little gold fairy.
"... Mmm...?" He mumbled. Adam smiled and didn't hesitate to come closer, close enough to lean forward and hug Ty's nose. Ty blinked a few times at the gesture, then smiled softly and closed his eyes again, shifting a little to nuzzle the innocent little fairy. Adam giggled and flew up to nestle in his thick and soft brown hair, relishing the human's body heat.
The other fairies followed, snuggling against their human friend, and Ty grinned drowsily and placed his hands gently over Adam, who was still in his hair, and Jason, who was against his chest.
"... What do you guys want this time?" He tiredly joked. Seto chuckled, nuzzling the back of the human's hand over Jason.
"Nothing," he replied calmly. "I just wanted to thank you for helping us."
"Same," Jason chirped. Seto gave Mitch a glare, which Mitch rolled his eyes to and mumbled, "Yeah..." Adam smiled and slid down to hover in front of Ty's eyes.
"You're one of my best friends," he declared, hugging Ty. Ty's eyes widened, then he smiled with joy and turned over to hug all of the fairies to his chest.
"Yeah love you guys too," He chuckled warmly. They all smiled and nestled against their warm human friend, enjoying the soothing embrace. The fairies lived hugging, having rituals with it such as before going to bed and after a game with the teammates to wish each other good luck. It was just something they took for granted. But being huddled here, in the dim lighting, embracing Ty-- hearing his soft breaths, his warmth, his gentle heartbeat, his arms safely resting over them, holding them close and keeping them protected and comforted...
This was certainly more special.
