(Chp. 12)

 Duncan's POV  

 Rythian came and sat next to Teep and I with an apple in his hand. I strained my neck to look at his eyes, they were perfectly normal. Maybe his moment of rage was gone. None of us talk, just listen to the silence of the surrounding forest. Teep begins scribbling on a piece of paper, "I'm going to go find some pigs. We will need the extra food." Rythian and I nod, and Teep stalks off into the forest. Rythian looks at me, and he smiles, not a normal smile, one filled with hate and revenge. I shouldn't turn my back on him. Who knows what he's planning. I take a step away from him, I can see him hold back a laugh.

 Teep returns and we decide to sleep. We lay out under the stars, but I can't sleep. I don't know if it's from the lack of comfort, or the silent threats Rythian was giving me. I lie still for what seems like hours and hear someone waking up, hopefully not Rythian. I cautiously open my eyes, and luckily see Teep by the small fire we made. I stand up and sit by him...

Rythian's POV

 We all decided to sleep, but I can't. I stay awake waiting, waiting for the right time to kill Duncan. Just the thought of his lifeless body makes by Ender-Blood boil. I can hear Duncan's breathing just feet away, but soon that will end. He is still awake, I know it.

 I hear Teep sit by the fire. Before I hurt Duncan, Teep has to be asleep. Duncan wakes up and sits next to him. I hear them talking, I don't dare open my eyes. They can't know I'm awake.

 "Teep, I think Rythian is planning to hurt me," Duncan says. I hope Teep doesn't believe him. Should I show them I'm awake? I decide I should. I open my eyes and sit next to them. "We were just saying we should probably start moving, the sun is starting to rise," Duncan says. I look up, sure enough the sun is peering over the horizon.

 "Oh, I didn't hear you guys talking," I lie.

"Yeah," Duncan says.

"Where exactly are we going?" I ask.

"No where special. I just wanted to visit some people," he says.

"Oh ok," I say, I wonder who.

<><><> A Few Hours Later<><><><>

Duncan's POV

We are past the forest and now we are in a snow biome. We just stopped to rest and we are continuing our journey. Suddenly, I feel a hand clamp over my mouth.
"Don't say anything," Rythian hisses. I just nod. "Good. Now tell Teep that you heard something up ahead and he should go check it out," he whispers.

"Teep. I heard something up ahead, can you go check it out?" I say nervously. Teep nods and runs ahead. I hear Rythian unsheathes his Red-Matter Katar. He is still behind me, I feel the cold blade against my throat.

"Don't worry, it will be over soon," he says. He starts to press the blade into my neck, I grab my mining laser and blow the Katar out of his hand. He staggers back, surprised. I point the mining laser at him.

"TEEP!" I call. Rythian lunges for me and out of reflex, I pull the trigger. The small explosion noise rings throughout the biome, and Rythian falls to the ground. I kneel to the ground and check if he's still breathing. He is, just unconscious, Teep runs up. He saw the whole thing. "He tried to kill me Teep. I had to do something," I pant. Teep nods in understanding, and picks up Rythian. I feel my neck, no blood, just a small scratch. We need to hurry to Sick-Bay. On the way I explain to Teep what had happened...
