Caber-Town (Chp.13)

Duncan's POV

 We made it to Sick Bay without any more problems. Rythian stayed unconscious thanks to the extra potions I packed. Sick Bay was in our sights, we jumped across the lily pads and into the small town. The villagers stared at us as we crossed the town, into the hospital. The villagers at the front desk of the hospital paid no attention to me.

"Excuse me," I said. The villagers turned their gaze towards me. "My friend here has gone.... umm.. well... how do I say this? My friend here has basically gone  crazy town- banana pants. He tried to kill me, his eyes are really weird. They like glow and stuff when he's angry." The doctor stared at me before speaking.

"Why do you think he has gone... how you say, 'crazy- town, banana- pants'?" he asks.

"Well, there was this girl he loved, and a nuke exploded and killed her. He couldn't even find her body. He was blaming himself and having these weird trances and stuff. Then one day he woke up saying it was my fault, because I was the one who planted the nuke, but I wasn't gonna set it off. The girl, Zoey, tried to defuse it, and she did something wrong and it exploded. After he was saying it was my fault he tried to punch me, but Teep here stopped him. I gave him a potion to make him unconscious. We began our journey here. He was supposed to stay unconscious the entire way here, but for some reason he woke up halfway here. His eyes were glowing like they were when he tried to hurt me. Later we were all walking because we thought he was better, all of the sudden he puts his sword on my throat and tries to kill me. But I took my mining laser and blew the Katar out of his hands, and he was knocked unconscious. I gave him potions to keep him unconscious the rest of the way here," I say out of breath.

"Woah," the doctor says, "looks like you've been busy the past week or two." I nod.

"So can you help him?" I ask.

"Can you tell me about his past, and all important events in his life?" he asks. I nod and tell him about everything I know about Rythian, even about that day in my lab.

"And that's basically all I know about him," I say.

"You said he was getting better when you came, then suddenly got worse?"

"Yeah, it was weird."

"Did he lose anything valuable after Zoey died? Like something really personal?" he asks. I think, anything he lost... His journal!

"Actually, he did lose a journal. He was trying to hide it from Teep and I. But then it fell in the crater where the nuke exploded," I say awkwardly.

"I bet that journal had something pretty personal in there," he says.

"I guess."

"But to answer your question, yes, I think we can help him."

"Cool," I say.

"And his eyes were probably glowing and the potions weren't as effective because he's part Ender- Man. That day in that lab impacted the rest of his life really bad." My mouth hung open, now that I think of it, most bad things that happened to Rythian were because of me. When he gets better, if he gets better, I will try to make it up to him. I lean back in the chair I sat in. Suddenly a villager bursts in and whispers in the doctor's ear. The doctor nods and the villager leaves the room.

"The other doctor's thought I should see Rythian, and give them my input. While you wait, why don't you go meet the mayor. I think you would like him, also explain why your here. I'll send a villager to get you when Rythian's condition changes," he says. I thank him and go and find Teep.

 I walk around the town looking for Teep, I find him playing basketball with a few villagers. Not wanting to interrupt his game I make my way to Town Hall. I open the door and I am directed towards a door.  A mahogany door, very fancy. I open it and am surprised. Ravs sits in a giant chair, his feet propped on the desk.
