Yui and Maki stared out the window the next morning. They both let out a deep sigh. Even though it was the beginning of summer, it wasn't complete without Toki. They have been informed by there parents that Toki had a horrible headache. Yui started to wonder what was in that candy that they ate. Both Maki and Yui noticed how keen their 5 senses were and how warm the sun felt. They also noticed how their teeth felt like they were be pulled out with pliers. Maki ran downstairs and phoned Yui.
"Hey Yui!" Maki said in the phone.
"Haro Maki. What's wrong?" Yui replied.
"I think you already know what is wrong." Maki said alarmed, "What is in that candy!?"
"I'm not sure. But, today seems so different. It's like the sun can actually burn through my skin." Yui complained.
"Well, cause that is actually true." Maki explained, "Put on more sunblock, we are going to Toki's house."
"Yesh yesh, Bai~" Yui said.Yui and Maki met outside of Toki's house and knocked on the door. Toki's mom came out and greeted them in. Yui and Maki immediately ran into the living room and found Toki eating porridge. Not long later, Toki saw Yui and Maki standing there.
"What's wrong?" Toki asked.
Maki replied, "Do you know that you are sick right now?"
Toki replied, "Yea, but it nothing much."
Yui answered, "But, the situation might escalate because I placed the cand-"
Yui quickly covered her mouth but, Toki an Maki heard what she said.
"Wait…YOU PLACED THAT CANDY IN HIS/MY TEA!?" Toki and Maki yelled.
"Oops…sorry. I thought that it would be a shame if Toki didn't try the candy." Yui apologized.
"Well, we can't change the past." Maki sighed.
"Sorry Toki. I'll try to find the guy who gave us that candy." Yui confidently said.
"I'll help!" Toki decided.
"No!" Yui and Maki yelled. "You will stay home to rest."
Since Toki was outnumbered 2 to 1, he ended up staying home, leaving the girls on their own.Meanwhile, Maki and Yui were outside in the heat searching for that mysterious man. They both started out at the park but sadly the man was no where to be seen. They also tried questioning the locals but, they got no lead on the man. So, Yui and Maki decided to split up to search for him.
"Yui. I'll meet you back when it is sunset." Maki declared.
"Okay…be careful Maki." Yui replied.
Before the two girls went their separate ways, Maki said, "I can't believe that you would do that to Toki!"
"I'm sorry. It's just that the story that story the man told convinced me to give Toki the candy. It was as if the story was hypnotic." Yui explained to Maki.
"Okay, I know how you feel. I've also felt that urge to give that candy to Toki." Maki sighed.
"Okay…let's hurry! We are running out of time." Yui exclaimed.
The girls searched high and low. They even searched all the dark and scary alleyways. At the end, Yui and Maki returned to the park with no lead to where the man is."I can't find him." Maki said as her voice sounded very dejected.
"I'm sorry…it's all my fault." Yui apologized.
Suddenly they heard a very low and deep metallic voice, "What's your fault?little children?"
Yui and Maki sharply turned around to face the man.
"What did your do to Toki!?" Maki and Yui hissed at the man.
"Calm down, calm down!" the man said assuring Maki and Yui. "With a little bit of my candy, you can fix him again."
"How can we trust you after all you did to us?" Maki asked him.
"It is reasonable for you not to trust me but, I can tell you that the young boy will surely die soon." The man replied
"What?DIE!?Aren't you going too far?" Yui yelled.
"Lower you voice. The young boy has not fully consume the candy…therefore he need the rest of candy to heal him." The man said, "trust me one more time."
He placed a candy into Maki's hand and said, "Girl…it's all up to you."
"What…!?I don't want this!" Maki screamed.
"Well, goodbye for now my Chibi vampires." The man said as he vanished in thin air.
"Wait…did…he…just…say…vampire?" Yui asked.
"I-I think so." Maki said as her right hand was shaking.
She could feel that cold piece of wrapped candy on her palm. Her pulse has risen as she was left with two choices. If Toki ate it, he might have a higher chance of dying…or he might be cured. It's a 50 % chance of each.
Maki clenched the candy in her palm and confidently yelled, "I know what I have to do…let's go Yui."
Yui replied by nodded and running to Toki's house along with Maki. Finally, they made it to the house.
"Yui let's go give this to Toki." Maki told Yui.
They arrived at the living room and watched as Toki took the medicine.
"Do you feel any difference?" Yui asked.
"Yea…I think I'm fine now." Toki laughed.
Everyone sighed a breathe of relief as they began to play some games before returning home.A few minutes later, Yui and Maki bid Toki goodbye.
"See you tomorrow!" Maki said.
"Night night." Yui told Toki and Maki.
They left Toki's home and immediately slept in their comfy beds.
