I found a bench outside on the porch and decided to sit here for a while in quiet. The sky looks amazing, almost blue with stars. It's late in the evening. The boys are sleeping and so is Jace and Andi. I still feel bad about shouting at Skylar. I didn't mean it.
"Hunter?" I sigh and close my eyes as I hear my name being called by Sky.
"Yes, honey?" I answer as she comes and take my cold hand in her warm.
"Are you okay?" She asks gently as she sits down on my lap. I hold her as she rests her cheek on my shoulder. I kiss her forehead, slowly.
"I'm okay." I mumble on her skin and then rest my forehead on hers.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you." I whisper to her.
"No, it's fine. I-I was kind of waiting for you to snap, but I didn't expect you to be so angry. You scared me," She kiss my cheek.
"You don't have a reason to be sorry, Hunti. I know I got under your skin, and it's good you stood up for yourself." She smile barely, but the look of fear is still in her eyes and it makes me worried. It might go away after a while.
"I'm sorry, honey, that I can't change..."
"No," She cup my cheek.
"I know who you are, Hunt. It's just that it scares me sometimes the way you are, because you don't really take care of yourself." Her words make me sigh as I look down at the snow floor.
After a little moment she snorts as she takes off her own wedding ring. Then she takes my hand in hers and put it on my finger. She takes my ring and pull it up on her own. I'll follow you. It stands on the one I am wearing. I watch my wife for a short moment as she looks at the one on her finger.
"I think we need to change." My wife says and then take the tears away from her cheeks.
"You didn't fail me, Hunti. I failed you." She says watching me with her red eyes.
"No, you didn't fail..."
"Yes, I did," She argues, crying.
"I treated you horribly, Hunti. I took the children away from you, and I forced you to be alone. Most of all to sleep without me," I take the tears away from her cheeks.
"I-I am so sorry, Hunt." She cries and bury her face in my neck.
"It's okay, honey. It's fine..."
"No, it's not fine." She argue and I can feel her breath on my skin.
"I love you so much and I treat you so awful. How can you even say that everything is fine?" She cries, and I start laughing as I hold her tight in my arms.
"W-why are you laughing?" She sobs. I lean back to kiss her forehead before I answer.
"Because you sound like me, honey, and now I know how it is like." I smile.
"Oh my god!" Sky says shocked as she leans back from me and I look into her brown eyes. I smile lightly to her.
"You are beautiful." I tell her softly as I stroke her wet cheek. She rolls her eyes.
"I'm crying." She says annoyed.
"Oh my god! I need to stop." She says irritated by herself and I just have to let my laugh out again.
"Still, beautiful." I promise her.
"I am not going to leave you, Hunter." My wife tells me as she takes my hand and move her thumb over the wedding ring I am now wearing, which is hers.
"Let's go inside." I tenderly say after a while as I move up from the bench. She laughs in my arms as she bury her face on my neck.
"You are stronger then I remember." She says and I feel her breath on my skin.
"I was bored." I chuckle as I step into the warm house again. Where the sound of laughter and cheering voices comes to my ears. The smell of the dinner we had still lingered. I kiss my smiling wife on her temple as I take us up to our room and lay her down, quietly. She sits up on the edge still smiling as she put her hands on my waist. I cup her face and lean down to kiss her forehead.
I stop breathing as I feel her hands slip under my shirt, but she just holds me. She watch me a little unsure, but I let her keep them there as I cup her cheeks and lean down to taste her lips. Sky moves further into the bed with me upon her. I put my lips on her warm neck, but stop kissing and breathe as she moves her hands under my shirt and on my back. I move lightly back searching her brown eyes as I catch my breath again.
"I'm sorry." She says and move her hands away from me. To be honest, I miss her warm touch, but I am too scared to know if I can't look at her if we go further.
"It's..." I get interrupted by Jace's talking and it makes us both laugh surprised. I lean down to kiss Sky's forehead, before I jump out of the bed. Jace is smiling bright where he is lying next to his sleeping sister. I pick him up and lay him between Sky and me on the bed.
"Well, that was surprising." Sky says as she leans down to kiss Jace's forehead.
"Yeah." I smile as lay my hand on my little boy's stomach and lean in to kiss his adorable cheek.
"He has a nice voice." I say as I yawn and close my eyes, nuzzling Jace's cheek. It feels so good to be next to my tiny boy.
"I love you, Jace." I whisper to him and it makes him turn to me. I smile as he put his hand on my cheek. Then I feel Sky's lips on my forehead.
"I love you, Hunt."
"I love you too." I mumble on my baby's forehead.
