Chapter 3

One week later, Chef and Scarlet were now a thing. On Valentines Day, Scarlet came back from her lunch break. Everyone smiling at her and looking back at what they were doing. Finally she got to her desk. It had a bouquet of roses, a plate full of small pastries and a pink and purple card. She smiled and picked up the card. It read: "See you later on tonight. I have more gifts for you later on today. Happy Valentine's Day, my love. -H.C.D". Gugu peeked out the door and said, " He came just before you got back. Oh, darling, love is beautiful thing!". Some of Scarlet's colleagues looked at her and smiled and turned away. Scarlet got back to her apartment and Salvatore, the door man, sat up in his chair and called for Scarlet. "Ms. Rye, "he" came around with these boxes for ya!". Scarlet ran over and grabbed the boxes."Thanks, Sal!" Yelled Scarlet as she happily ran up the stairs. "Ya welcome, Doll!" He hollered back. Scarlet got to APT #27 and unlocked the door and ran into the apartment and slammed the door. She got to her bedroom and threw the boxes down on the bed startling her fat cat, Big Frankie." Excuse me, sir!" Scarlet said laughing. Frankie jumped off the bed and switched slowly towards the love seat and hissed. Scarlet popped open the box and a Red skin tight dress with a red shawl glowed in the dim light room. The other box had red Converse with red sequence. "He knows that I hate heels!" She whispered to herself. There was a note inside the shoebox. It read: "I hope you like sneakers. You looked like the no heel type. I'll pick you up by 8 o' clock, baby. - H.C.D" . Scarlet gasped, it was already 7:42 p.m. Scarlet ran into the bathroom and got ready. By 7:58, she put on her makeup and her outfit. 8:01. Chef wasn't there yet so Scarlet fed Big Frankie tuna fish and poured him some milk in his bowl. After she rubbed his back, it was 8:03 and a car horn honked three times. Scarlet walked over to the fire escape window and saw a limousine with Chef standing on the side with another bouquet of roses. He had on a cream colored tux with a red vest, bowtie, and pocket square. The two went to dinner on the roof top of the Hammersmith, a fancy hotel. Then went to the penthouse suite and "spent time with each other".
