I cautiously followed Nick to our spot in Grand Park. Our spot was a grassy area on the top of a small hill surrounded by tall flowers. I knew I had to get home quickly, this theory in my mind wouldn't stay forever. I needed to right it down. I desperately needed to get home, but the way Nick's fingers were intertwined with mine entranced me to stay.
There was an unworldly force keeping me here by his side, and surprisingly... I liked it. I shook the thought away and focused ahead, sitting at our spot was David and Violet. They were the craziest couple in town, they smoked weed together, they clubbed together, and even got arrested together once. They earned themselves the reputation of the hardest partiers in Lamia.
David was well built, but not as masculine as Nick. He had hazel eyes and dark shaggy hair, his smile could swoon any girl with those straight white teeth. Violet was as equally good looking, she had tan olive skin tone with brown hair and deep green eyes. She was thick and curvy like any other Italian and had big full lips. She was a loud crazy shot glass of wild and David was the proud drinker of what she served. They were inseparable.
Violet shrieked as she saw us walking up the hill, it was obvious the fact I was outside shocked her. "Alice! David, guarda! Guarda e 'finalmente fuori!" Violet spat out words in Italian and hopped up and down "Vi, English!" Violet sighed and pointed again. "David! Look, she's finally outside!" She smiled brightly and hugged him tightly. It really mattered to me that my friends cared. Aw. "Haha, come here Vi!" She ran over and hugged me tightly
"You have to come out with us more often! It's been too long!" She dragged me to our spot and sat me down. "So, how have you been? What you been up to? How's life? Are you and Nick FINALLY dating? Is your mom back?" Violet asked a thousand questions in a second and overwhelmed me. "Haha slow down! I'm good. How are you?" She hugged David and kissed his cheek as he lit his pipe "Great! How's the house?" "Good" I replied. No one besides Nick knew about my night work. In the distance we heard the beeping of typing on a cell keyboard. We all knew who was showing up.
Chiyo appeared first, she wore a light pink tank top and black jeans. Her brother, Atsushi came up slowly behind her wearing a white button up shirt and black jeans. Both, were clicking away on their phones. Chiyo was short and thin with light brown hair and light brown eyes and small lips, Atsushi was lanky with black hair and light brown eyes. They were Japanese phone addicts.
The more I looked at my friends I realized Lamia was a small town with many cultures. Violet is Italian, David is Latino, Chiyo and Atsushi were Japanese, I was half Russian and half Latina and Nick was half Russian and German. Lamia was a funky cultural salad bowl, just like our group of friends. Chiyo was the first to look up from the phone and her jaw dropped when she saw me sitting on the grass. "Atsu... Atsu look!" She smacked the phone on the ground and Atsushi saw me sitting there.
His jaw dropped as well and gasped. I knew he had a slight crush on me, but the lanky tall awkward guy wasn't my type. I was into the masculine and adventurous. Atsushi was kind and shy. "Alice!" they both checked their phones and shouted "Why didn't anyone tell us Alice was coming?!" It was scary how they always said the same thing. Maybe it's a twin thing? They were born 2 minutes away from each other, but they don't look too similar.
Chiyo sat down next to me and hugged me gently "Aww, how long has it been since you've been out?" She asked with her quiet voice, "Not long." I replied. I went out a few days ago, but of course they meant something else. Violet passed the pipe to Nick and he took a drag and passed it to Chiyo. This was a common thing with us, but it was something I rarely took part in.
Chiyo skipped over me and passed it to Atsushi and I yanked it from him and they all stared at me. "Hey, why would you skip me Chiyo?" She sat with her mouth wide open and they all gawked as I took a little puff and passed it to Atsushi. "What?" They all smiled at me, "Wow what happened to you?" David raised his eyebrows at me. "Right? About four years we did this and now she joins in. " said Chiyo. I felt awkward but... I just laughed
"Oh my gosh you guys, not a huge deal." They all laughed "Haha, yup, 22 and she still doesn't curse." They laughed and started shouting profanity and curse words. "OH wow you guys, so mature!" Violet pushed me and I landed hard on my back "Haha, its called having fun!" I laughed lightly "Does it matter that I don't curse?" They all nodded. "It's like normal to curse, Alice." Atsushi claimed, I shrugged in response.
Hours passed and it wasn't until the sun began to set that I realized how long I'd been out here with these dorks. It was then it clicked, I needed to get home and write down my theory. I'd occasionally taken a few more drags from David's pipe and felt a little nauseated. Weed apparently wasn't my thing. I needed to get home.
"Nick, I need to get home." I placed my hand on Nick's chest and pushed him slightly, he grabbed my hand and looked me over. "Okay, hey guys Alice wants to go home. So we're gonna go, but drinks tomorrow right?" they all shouted in agreement and Nick walked me to the car and laid me down in the back seats. I needed to get home quickly and right down my theory. I wasn't sure about this one, so Nick would have to find out later.
"Nick... I'm never smoking again!" He chuckled lightly.
"Its okay, Alice." He placed his right hand on my shoulder and drove us home. When we arrived he carried me into my room and placed me on my bed then left. This feeling of nausea was taking over me but I needed to write down this theory. I ran to the restroom and washed my face. I looked up into the mirror and looked at myself.
I had my Latin Father's black hair and my Russian Mother's grey green eyes. I had her pale skin tone, and his full lips. My body was similar to my mother's, pear shaped. Since training began I'm thinner, but still have a small delicate frame much like Juliette. I had my father's smile. My eyebrows were a mixture, they were heavy and dark like my father's, but had the natural clean delicate look to them like my mother's eyebrows. My cheek bones were somewhat noticeable and round. Everyone said I was gorgeous and I knew that made me an OBVIOUS Fisher target.
I sometimes feel like they cursed me with beauty. Then I come to realize, I look at myself and see them. I see them and I smile. It's been so long without them, I'm the only reference to their physical appearance. I sighed deeply, missing them. I could only imagine the worst events to become their fate. My father's been gone for 10 years, Juliette left a year after he left. I sometimes think they both just escaped me, they didn't want me anymore so they just up and left. I push that theory far back into my very being, it can't be true. We loved each other. Didn't we?
I walked into my room, opened my notebook and wrote down my theory.
Translation of what Nick said is "I'm always here" Aw :) Heehee again this part wasn't much into the action bit, but I wanted to go into some detail. Major Action moments next chapter though :P
