We had assigned seats, and lab partners. I was with Fang. Mitch and Sam were partners, and sat one desk infront of us. Our teacher was Mr. Dumon, the Chemistry teacher. We all took chemistry, because it was the only science class we could all do. While Dumon gave his lecture, i occupied myself by throwing paper balls at Mitch's head. The white paper stood out against his red hair. Fang snickered, and began throwing them at Sam's head. Mitch went to scratch his head, and the paper balls tumbled out of his hair. He turned, and glared at Fang and I.
"Guys, Stop Goofing Around!" Mitch scowled.
"But Mitchhh," I whined, "Im Bored hereeee."
"Why dont we head to the Skating rink today guys? I got new skates." Fang said, energetically.
"Oooh," I nodded. "I Gotta practice my figure skating for the hockey game."
Mitch sighed and turned back around.
Fang sighed, "He's never impressed"
I laughed and punched Fang in the shoulder. "It's a great idea!"
Fang grinned and brushed his hand through his hair. "Heh. Thanks Amber."
Mr. Dumon walked around and handed out our textbooks, along with an assignment. It was all basic things, review from last year. I could easily beat Mitch in chemistry, but that took way too much work. Our first assignment was to write out a copy of the periodic table. Fang poked me and the arm and looked confused.
"Whats up Fang?" I Asked
"I Drew my table." Fang said. I looked down at his paper, and he had drawn a wooden dinner table. I couldn't hold it back and i burst out laughing in the middle of Chemistry class. Fang also started laughing, and the whole class turned to us.
"Miss Amber, Sir Fang, what is so funny?" Mr. Dumon asked.
"Sorry Sir," Fang said, "It was me." As he was still laughing.
"Please dont disturb my class again."
The whole class went back to work, but Fang and I constantly made small jokes, and started throwing paper at Sam and Mitch again. The principal walked in to the class, and whispered something to Mr. Dumon.
"Class," He started, "Classes have been cancelled for the rest of the day. Please remain on school grounds, and have a free day." I looked at Fang, this had happened once before last year, when a new kid sliced himself with the saw in the shop. The four of us headed to the senior garden, a place where only seniors could be. We sat under a willow tree, and discussed what had happened.
"You think it was the new kids again?" I asked, laying on the gound.
Fang was putting grass in my hair, "Yeah, its possible." He laughed, "Those kids are always up to something on the first day."
"Like you," Sam said, "When you set the oven in Home Ec on fire."
"That was one time!" Fang said, laughing.
Mitch was incredibly silent, probably angry. He always hated when these days happen, and wanted to get back to work.
"So guys," i asked, "Whats for lunch? I Got some pie."
"I Bought A Fillet From Fily." Fang laughed, "Fast food for Fang."
"I Have noodles." Samuel said.
Mitch didn't answer, and instead stared off into nowhere. He looked angry at us, expecting us to do something else.
"So, You guys still up for skating?" Fang asked
"Yeah! I'm in!" I said
"Skating? Sure." Sam smiled.
"I'll Pass. I have... chores to do at home." Mitch said, pulling out large clumps of grass. We all continued talking about what time we should meet up, and where. We decided to meet at Fangs house, and walk down the street to the rink. Mitch looked at us, sadly, as if he regretted saying no. Finally, the teachers dismissed us, and we were free to head home. I walked to my house alone, as Mitch decided to go the other way. I pulled open my gate, went upstairs, and sat on my bed. I checked my phone, and i had a few messages from mitch.
Mitch: Hey Amber. Sorry, im kinda upset about today.
Mitch: Have fun?
Mitch: Nevermind. You will, Fang and Sam are there.
Mitch: Whatever.
Mitch: Cya Tomorrow.
Sighing, i turned off my screen and looked in my dressers. I Decided to wear a white sweater, and galaxy leggings to the rink. I had my White figure skates hung off my wall. I put a pair of white earmuffs around my neck, and walked downstairs with my skates. I had a few hours before i went to Fangs, so i sat down on my couch and began planning the first dance of the year. Seeing as it was september, i began planning a casual fall dance, just to get ready for the school year. I walked into my kitchen, grabbing a sandwich from the fridge. My parents had always pre-made sandwiches, so when i got home from school, i could eat without a hassle. I started pulling on my boots, and heading to Fangs. He lived on the next block over, in his Penthouse. Sam's dad owned the hotel complex, and gave the penthouse to the boys so they could live out of his house. I Slung my skates over my shoulder, and began walking towards the tall building. I passed Mitch's house, and his parents waved at me from the driveway. I waved back, and continued walking. I approached the building, and walked inside. The lady from the reception desk smiled.
"Hello miss, are you here for a visit?" She asked
"Yeah, Penthouse?" I Said
"Oh! You're Sam's Friend? How nice. Go ahead." She smiled, and waved me over to the elevator. Sam's dad was a really nice guy, and so was Sam to the staff. I entered the elevator, and began heading up to the place. When i got out at my floor, fang was standing infront of the door.
"Hey Amber! Welcome!" He smiled, and opened the door for me. "Nice sweater by the way." As i walked in, he shut the door behind me.
"Thanks, Fang!" I smiled, "Where Sam?"
"Sam's getting ready for skating. If you ask me, he's trying to impress you" Fang laughed.
"Impress me? Well then." I laughed along. Fang wore a zip-up sweater and dirty black jeans. His new skates were black hockey skates. They sat on the table, beside Sam's grey skates. Sam exited his room.
"Hey fang?" Sam asked, he was wearing a Blue letterman jacket over grey jeans, "Do you think Amber will like..." he then saw me and acted all embarrassed, "Uh.. hey Amber.."
I laughed. Sam had never tried dressing to impress me, and i found that sweet that he did this time.
"So..." Sam said, "Lets go!"
With that, we all walked out the door.
