I remember the last words you spoke to me as you walked out the front door on that warm May morning, taking our sons to their football matches, our daughter giggling at your feet.
You kissed my nose, which you often did when you were trying to be cute. Then you whispered in my ear "I love you my koala."
I could only smile as you led our beautiful children down the driveway.
Little did I know it would be the last time you would ever do it.
The next time I saw you, you were unconscious in a hospital bed and I was told you would never be able to speak or walk again.
Nobody expected you to go into cardiac arrest that day. You were so physically fit, going on a run every morning and playing football with the boys, only drinking alcohol at the rare times we managed to get to a party and never smoking a single cigarette but in that moment your heart stopped I lost the husband I knew.
I never stopped loving you. When eventually you did regain consciousness and we deemed stable enough you were transferred to a professional centre.
You were lucky. You could have died that day, in the field in front of all those children but you were in the right place at the right time and they saved you.
You never did learn to talk or walk again but I learnt to read your eyes. Eyes are the window to the soul and yours bared ever moment of pain and desperation in the last couple of months.
Eventually you became ill again, pneumonia is what the doctor said, and your body couldn't fight it.
You were never one to give up but this was one battle too far and when you passed away, just before Christmas, I wept for the life you never got the chance to have and the beautiful husband and father who was taken from us before I'd fully realised I had you.
Connor Franta. You fought until the last minute. Rest tightly my sweetheart. Rest in paradise.

So it's been a whileeee.
This oneshot is, unfortunately, true which is why I haven't been online. Just before Christmas a close family friend died aged 44.
It really made me put everything into perspective that life is short and you really don't know when it could all be over.

In more positive news, new year was fun with the fam

Hope your all good
