Rule 1: Stay with your bag.
Never leave that bag out of your sight. That is your life saver always keep it full of vitals especially tampons.

Life is full of tons of surprises. Some good others bad. And even in this moment as I swing open the rusted door to an old Walmart. I'm surprised.

Because this Walmart is picked over. Maybe that's an understatement, there is practically nothing on the shelves. My heart is sinking, sliding from my chest to my stomach or maybe my feet because it sure feels like it's being stepped on.

I can feel my temper rising as each shelve I look on there's no canned food items.

"Fuck." I hiss walking to my third shelf. I kick it hard like it's all the shelves fault. The rusty structure wobbles and two loud thuds can be heard.

Amelia ducks down on her stomach and looks under. She does this awkward shemmi sliding under the shelf "I got them!" Her excited smile meets my face making me grin. "Good job baby girl." I praise her taking the can goods from her and putting them in my bag.

Amelia pulls herself off the floor before dusting off her t-shirt. "Let's go look for more." I take her hand walking down a few more isles.

After a few more cans we figure we have enough to last us. "Come on A le'" My words are caught off by the clicking sound of a gun. I look at A who has wide eyes her body frozen with fear.

"Well well well, what do we have here?" The voice is rough no doubt male. I turn around facing the man. He's older then me with a cocky smirk plastered on his face.

People are worse then the dead. Far. Worse.

"What do you want?" I growl. Taking a step back.

"Thats no way to talk to your elders now is it?" He presses the gun against my stomach the cool metal seeps through my t-shirt. "How about you give me that bag of your's" He motions to my backpack, and I laugh.

"Over my dead body."

"That can be a ranged." I can tell he's getting irritated. "Give me the bag." His voice was stren and would have probably made any other girl quiver in fear.

But I wasn't any other girl and he didn't scare me. "No."

He growled grabbing my arm hard and slamming me into the nearest shelf. My body went into overdrive my senses were swarmed with muscle memory. My fist slammed forward connecting with hard bone.

Now I'm small for an eighteen year old. My frame and height are tiny which doesn't leave much room for muscle. So my punches don't really hurt to awful bad, but they don't not hurt. My punch was enough to make his hold loosen on my arm and I took the small time frame to get my arm back. I slammed my elbow into his back and a loud cry came from his lips as he stumbled back. It didn't take him long to recover and punch me in the eye, hard.

My vision went blurry and boy did it hurt. "Shit" I cursed as he reached forward grabbing my shirt collar and slamming me against the shelf. My feet weren't touching the ground. "Well well well would you look at that?" He smirked and I glared.

I was running out of options and I mean honestly I needed the cans but I needed my life to. Just as I was about to tell him to take the cans, there was a click of a gun. His eyes widen and boy was it satisfying to see the look on his face.

"Alright shows over, put her down or i blow your brains out." Amelia Myers spoke with much confidence but if you seen her face she was doubting her words.

But, he couldn't see her face like I could and he dropped me before turning around. "Why don't you go run and play." His words were harsh and filled with venom. Amelia rolled her eyes something she had learned form me over time. She shot the ground at his feet making him jump. "Do I really have to repeat my self?"

He narrowed his eyes but started walking away, making his way past Amelia. His hand moved to his back pocket something shiny grasped between his fingers.

I jumped with out thinking shoving Amelia back a sharp pain hit my side, I shoved the guy hard just as a loud blast could be heard. The man cried out loudly he was still uttering a strung of curse words as he hit the ground. I looked at Amelia who looked just as surprise as I did. "I..I didn't mean to shoot i..just." I gave her a reassuring smile.

"It's okay A." I looked back at the guy he was cradling his thigh and cursing loudly. "Come on love let's go." I took her hand and we walked to the door Maxi boy was laying on the floor but when he saw Amelia he jumped up. Stupid dog he couldn't come when we needed him.

We walked out side into the bright light making me squint. Amelia let go of my hand and gasped. I looked down at her tiny hands were stained with blood. "Vivvian you're bleeding.." Her eyes were fixed on my side with the look mom used to give us when we were hurt.

I looked at my side and lifted up my shirt a large gash into my side was bleeding heavily. "It's just a scratch Amelia I'm all right."

But I couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get bad.
