I finished blow drying my long, layered auburn hair. I brushed it several times over just to make sure it was clear of all the tangles. I had calmed down considerably from the bout I had with Ella. She was just looking out me and I knew that but, I still didn't think DJ and Lou were the ones to blamed right off the bat. Surely, Mr. Powell would see they were innocent of any wrong doings.

"Want to sit on the back porch with me? I made cookies." Ella asked, holding a plate of, straight out of the oven, chocolate chip cookies.

"Got any milk?" I asked, swiping a cookie from the plate and quickly taking a bite.

I couldn't stay mad at her for caring so much. If it were her in my situation I would be the same way.

"I'll go get us some." She smiled and handed me the plate.

"Thanks." I said after taking a much needed drink of milk.

"Do you need anything else?"

"No, not at the moment. I'll let you know if I need anything." I smiled.

Ella wanted me to be lazy while I was at her house. Since I didn't have the energy to argue the fact I wasn't helpless, I just agreed to let her take care of me. She was the only person, other than my mom, I trusted completely.

"When is Khymie coming back home?" I asked.

Khymie was a year older than Ella and myself and ten times as feisty than both of us combined. She was a great person to be around and loved to have fun. At-least until you pissed her off. I once saw her slap a grown man across the face at the bar and grill she waitressed at. He kept smacking her on the ass when she'd walk by with another customer's order. She made him cower like a child afraid of the monster under their bed in front of his work buddies. I loved her to death.

"She will probably be back sometime tomorrow. I know she has to go back to work Thursday and she wanted to go shopping when she came back so, maybe tomorrow." Ella informed.

"I'll go home sometime tomorrow so you don't have to cancel any plans."

"Hells no you won't either. Your ass is staying here until your bathroom is fixed."

"It can't be that bad. Besides, someone has to clean my house." I rolled my eyes.

"Why do you have to be so stubborn? Just stay with me a week. Then you can go home and clean." Ella pleaded.

"I'll think about it." I huffed, "Who's fixing my bathroom?" I asked, not remembering calling anyone for the repairs.

"Your dad called one of his construction friends and they are going to fix it free of charge." Ella said.

"I'll have to pay the guy something and call my father."

"No...n-no...no you don't. It's been taken care of. Your dad told me not to tell you..." Ella said slyly.

"That doesn't sound like my dad. He would make sure it was okay first. Ella....What are you not telling me?"

"Nothing."

"Ella..."

"That's my story.... nothing else." She closed her mouth and acted like it was a lock and threw away the key."

"Ella Nicole McCall!" I shouted.

She exhaled heavily, "Fine! Lou wanted to know if there was anything he could do to help. At first I told him no but, he was stuck on thinking if they would have stayed longer none of what happened to you would have happened...." She looked at me with pitiful sad eyes.
