The drive from the airport took at least 45 minutes.
Our furniture and other things were coming in the afternoon.
How did my dad even find someone to drive from New York to Washington, I thought to myself.
I shut my eyes for a bit before being wakened 20 minutes later by a pair of hands, shaking me.
"Quin! Quin!" Sammy yelled at me, literally jumping out of the car with glee. I opened my eyes, to find that we stopped.
I got up and looked to my left, staring at a medium sized house. I get out and kept on looking.
"So what ya think Q-bear?" my father asked me. Q-bear was his nickname for me for at least as long as 17 years.
"Mhm," I nodding, "I like it." He smiled at me and told me to go ahead inside and check out the house.
I walked in, opening the cream colored door and looked up. In the foyer, was the most beautiful chandelier I have ever seen. Glistening faux candles shinned in the morning sun.
"Wow, that certainly is a beauty," my mother exclaimed while holding her purse and carry on.
Sammy ran down the stairs claiming that he had found his bedroom. He pulled me up and told me to find mine.
I walked around until I found stairs leading to the attic. I clambered up the stairs and opened the door. Sunlight shined through the closed blinds, making the room seem bright. The walls were painted a light shade of pink which I had no problem with.
Someone must have lived here, I thought to myself as I opened the blinds. You could see every house in the neighborhood plus some parts of of downtown Seattle.
My father walked in a couple seconds later and put down some of my suitcases.
"I knew you would like this room." He walked up to the window, with his hands on his hips.
"Yeah," I sighed, "it's beautiful."
- 1 hour later -
I decided to take a walk while my father ordered pizza for dinner.
The neighborhood was new to me, but I wasn't planning on walking far. It was getting darker now and the street lamps turned on.
Lacey walked by my side panting and sniffing the sidewalk.
I looked ahead and saw a figure walking towards me. I became stiff and my list of "Things That Could Go Wrong" went through my mind.
Lacey growled and barked at the stranger as it was getting closer.
The figure was a bit taller than me and I am 5'9 so I'm pretty tall. It walked under the street lamp and I could finally see its, no his , face.
He had blond hair, with a black beanie and a peak of his hair poking out. His piercing blue eyes looked straight into me. A shiver went down my spine and I backed away slowly.
RING!!! RING!!!
I almost screamed as I felt my phone buzz in my back pocket. By the time I took it out, the boy disappeared.
Mom: come back quick. you shouldn't be out in a new neighborhood at this time.
Me: yeah okay I will be there in 5.
Mom: okay pizza is almost here. ttyl.
I rolled my eyes at the text I had received from my mom.
Walking back home, I thought of the kid I had seen. It was kind of creepy how he was just standing there, staring at me and then disappeared.
I shook it out of my mind. No need to have the spooks before the first day of school tomorrow.
