This was Lily's apartment, and he had been going in there for many nights. Not every night, but many.
He'd sit in her room with her, listening to classical music. And as quoted in the song, 'Lily (My One and Only)', when he was with her, he felt fine.
The man has always wanted to kiss Lily. But the thing is, she didn't know he was there. He thought that she enjoyed his company so much that she'd sleep with him by her side. He wasn't all there when it came to the reality of the situation.
After sitting there for hours, listening to classical music and admiring the beautiful Lily, sleeping in her bed, gaining beauty sleep, he would bid his goodbyes, and leave the apartment at 5:00 AM.
