Chapter 14

I just. ..I just could not believe it!! The girl I met just last week was unresponsive, the girl who's smile could bring joy to the world who had so much to live for, was lying with multiple tubes in her and the one I truly loved is on her death bed. I stumbled back a little when I heard those words, thankfully my mom caught me.

"Zayn, if you want I can take you and your mom to see her."
I started to cry, but held it back. I just sat down, and mom and step-mom sat with me.

"Zayn, listen it's nothing major I promise. She can hear, see, smell, taste, and feel everything."

One tear left my eye, "How...did this h-happen?"

She sighed, "Well I went to go check on her this morning and she was throwing up and could hardly breathe or stand up. I rushed her to the hospital and came over here."

"Why didn't you stay?"

"I just couldn't...I know it sounds stupid but it was just unbearable."

I just shook my head repeatedly.

"But I promise, she's not dead and she can talk to you just like she normally would."

My mom was comforting me by rubbing my shoulders, "Honey do you wanna go see her?"

I nodded slowly.

"Wait..where's her sister?"

"Oh I let one of our good neighbors watch her. Don't worry she's watched her plenty of times."

Another tear fell, "She...do-doesn't wanna go see her?"

"She just started crying and told me she wanted to stay home."

"Come on honey, let's go." Mom helped me up to stand straight

*45 MINUTES LATER*

There she was lying there, just looking around. I was afraid to go up there until her mom said she would be here the entire time.

"Robin, sweetie I brought someone that'll make you scream for joy."

"Who mom?"

You could just barely hear her voice and I just walked up slowly.

Her eyes widened when she saw me, "Zayn!!"

She gave me the biggest smile she could, I lightly hugged her and she managed to grab my hand. "I'm so happy to see you!!"

Another tear fell down, "I'm so happy to see you too."
I smiled and she gave me a confused look, "Why are you crying? Are you afraid I'm going to die?"

"No, no of course not!! It's just tears of joy, that's all. And the fact that I don't like seeing you like this."
She gave me a frown. "But I'll get over it."

Soon the doctor came in, "Alright folks, Ms. Meadows can be released tomorrow afternoon. The only problem I've seen so far is, there's a big bruise right on her collar bone. It clogged up her major arteries, causing her to not breathe and continuously throw up."

Wow, that was a mouthful!
Robin's mom then spoke up, "Will she have to take any medicines?"

"Yes, she needs to take the blue pills, only 2, twice a day, after 5am and before midnight. Then she'll need to take the orange pills, only 1, before midnight. Keep track of this and let me know how she's feeling after a week."

He looked at his watch, "You folks better be heading out, visitor hours are over in an hour."

"Alright, Zayn, I'll see you in the car.", Mom said giving me and Robin a kiss on the forehead.

"Alright baby I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye mom."
I took a seat still holding onto her hand.

"Alright tell me."

"Tell you what?"

"How did you get the bruises and how do you keep getting so sick?"

A tear rolled out her eye and I wiped it away, "I can't.."

I gave her a kiss, "You can. Now please."

She sighed, "Okay, but you can't tell my mom."

"Alright, now hurry."

She sat up a little, 'Okay, so my mom got a new "friend" and it seemed alright with Chloe and I. Well one day, actually Saturday, he came up to my room and asked me if I had any plans.'

Saturday was the day we went to the mall.
"Go on."

'Well I said, "No, not exactly" and he closed my door. I told him he had to leave because I was going to take a nap. Some seconds later he just punched me in my collar bone because he thought I was "lying." '

Tears began to fill her eyes, "I was then pinned down to the floor and he...he ra-rap.."

"Shh....it's okay. You don't have to say it."

Her words trailed off and I just grabbed her and hugged her not caring if I was hurting her.

She broke away from the hug to finish, "So then the next day or so I was punched in the face."

This time she wouldn't let me hug her. "Why haven't you told your mom?"

"Because I promised her I wouldn't lie and she would just think that I'm lying again."

I looked down at the floor.

"But you should go before you get in trouble."

"Okay." I gave her a kiss on the cheek, "But as soon as you get out of the hospital, you tell her."

"Za—"

"Robin, you have too."

"Okay, but he's not here anymore. He said he had to go be with his family or whatever which I thought was stupid because Yesterday he asked my mom to be his girlfriend and she said 'yes'. He didn't tell her he had a wife and 3 kids."

I nodded my head and left. Wow what a day and to think this started with one sentence. Man love is tough but my love is worth fighting for.
