Bernice | A week later
It was Friday, meaning I was off of work for the weekend. I was getting dressed because Dave had invited me to the studio because he wanted me to see him in action. There was no discussion on what happened at my house the other week and I wasn't too sure how I felt about that. After I was ready I headed to the train station to go to the city. After shopping a little I headed to the address of the studio he gave me. I went to the room number and crept in. Dave was on the couch smoking weed. I didn't do it, but to each their own. He stood up hugging me.
"Finally! I've been waiting. Everybody this is my best friend, Bernice. Everybody say what up!" They did so and I sat down. "You need anything?" He asked me. I shook my head no. "Ok, we're just waiting on Mack Wilds." I didn't know who that was so I just nodded in agreement.
A few minutes later a guy walked in. He looked familiar. Dave stood up dapping him up. He brought him over introducing me to him. I got a closer look at him.
"Bernice, this is Mack Wilds. We're about to do a song together for my tape. Mack, this is my best friend, Bernice." We shook hands.
"You're Michael from The Wire! I loved that show. How did it feel to kill Snoop? I mean, I would've-"
Dave cut me off saying, "Chill out, B!" I wasn't lying. Me and Dave watched The Wire on HBO religiously in high school. Michael was my favorite character towards the end and I had a crush on him.
"Sorry. I didn't know you made music now."
He laughed, "I do. Dave, you sure this is just your friend? She's a cutie. That's an understatement, she's gorgeous." I slightly blushed.
Dave was walking towards the booth. "Just friends, best friends, but still back off nigga!" I rolled my eyes. Always quick to tell someone to back off, but won't get me for himself. I couldn't tell if I really wanted to be with Dave or if I was just lonely. I sat back on the couch just observing everything. Dave was talented and I was proud.
After a couple of hours Dave and Mack finished the song 'Bring a Friend' for his upcoming DJ Drama hosted mixtape entitled Hate Me Now. I liked the song even though it was basically about having a threesome with 2 friends. I scoffed to myself. He better not be doing any of that nasty shit. 'It's just a song' I told myself.
My thoughts were broken by Mack saying, "Dave, you should bring Bernice out to Liberty with you" he suggested. Liberty was a club. Back when I worked at King of Diamonds I also used to host parties and club events for pay and that was one of them.
"You wanna come, BB? I'm performing and hosting with Trey Songz, it should be lit!"
I haven't been to a club since I stopped stripping to be honest. I was in a club basically everyday, so I was tired of them. I thought about it, "Ok, I'll come!"
"Great, then I guess I'll see you later" Mack said. He said his goodbyes then left leaving me and only Dave in the studio.
There was an awkward silence before Dave said, "I'll take you to your place so you can change for tonight." I nodded my head then we left the studio getting in his car.
The car ride was quiet until I said, "The tape is coming out great. I'm really proud of you, as much of a surprise it is that you're rapping" I chuckled.
"Surprise? You don't rememba me having the fire bars in high school?! I spit hot 16s all the time!"
I laughed, "16s? Now you're exaggerating. You could only spit one liners and that was it! You came a long way though. I've loved all ya tapes, so I'm sure this one will be no different."
