Chapter 2: Blue Bullets

Another ten seconds later, I found myself in Moray Towers. I smiled. This is my favorite map! I glance over at my team and see that they’re grinning as well. I then switch my gaze over to the T.V. by the spawn. They’re a team of all guys, and as usual, they have an Aerospray RG, Splat Roller, N-Zap ‘89, and an E-Liter 3K. I groan when I see the charger. It’s gonna be SO ANNOYING to get to their side!

“Alright guys,” Ally starts. “We need to focus on covering as much of their turf as possible. Clarissa, you take out the charger and immediately go offensive. Forget about our side.” Switching her gaze, she then stares at Sarah. “You’re also a charger, but you don’t have as much range as the E-Liter. Focus on killing anyone crossing onto our side. If you see the laser pointing at you, swim away.” She then swiveled her gaze onto Alicia. “Because you’re using a roller, you need to ink our turf. This is a perfect map for you, so you shouldn’t have much trouble. I’ll move forward and support Clarissa with my Tentatek Splattershot. Got it guys?” We put in our earpieces and all nod in unison. The horn sounds, and we’re off.

Doing as we were told, Alicia begins to move down the ramps. I immediately jump down, land, roll, and repeat until I reach the center.

“Okay, Ally, go forward, I’ll hold onto the center,” I shout, not bothering to use the earpiece.

“Got it, C!” Ally shouts back, already starting on her task.

I continue inking the center. After a few seconds, the center is completely pink. I pause for a second, take cover, and pull out my map. I realize that although Ally’s doing good, she needs support.

I press on my earpiece and call out to her, “Hey Ally, coming over to support!”

I focus on her face and prepare to jump. After about two seconds, I take off and super jump to her position. However, when I make it, I realize someone got past me while I was distracted. As I transform back into an inkling, I warn Sarah.

    “Sarah, someone’s coming over!”

    “Got ‘im!” she crows.

I then land and begin shooting.

“Great timing,” Ally grunts as she dodges a Suction Bomb.

    “Why..can’t...you...just...SPLAT!” the inkling grunts.

My eyes widen as I realize that he just splatted Ally. Oh no....

Their focus switches to me and everything freezes for half a second. After that, they begin shooting. I quickly ink a path out and swim through. As I pop back out of my ink, I whip out my Splattershot Jr. and begin shooting. I manage to splat one of them, but the other keeps dodging.

“Clarissa, do you read?” I hear Ally ask through the earpiece. I go in my ink and quickly say that I do.

“Keep your own there, I’m coming now!” she tells me.

I feel a stinging pain and feel the familiar stuck feeling that tells me that my luck has just run out. I shift to my inkling form and throw a bomb, ignoring all of their ink stuck to my body.

“Run!” the Aerospray shouts before swimming away, mere moments before it explodes. I take their small moment of panic and ink the turf around me.

“Just a little...there!” I shout triumphantly and my tentacles glow. The other team notices and shoot me frantically. Before they splat me, I activate my Bubbler. “Ha!” I shout before splatting them all and inking the rest of the platform. A second after I kill them all, Ally appears.

“Nice job, C!” she says praisingly.

I grin then say, “Stay here and make sure they don’t get through, I’ll take the last...” I check my map. “Thirty or so seconds to ink the rest!”

“Alright!” she replies before getting to work.

I make my way down again and call the rest of the team. Just as I move to press on my earpiece, they appear.

“The back is secure, we came forward to help you guys,” Alicia explains.

“‘Kay,” I respond. I glance down at my map again and face them. “There’s one inkling over there,” I murmur. They hear me and start back down, but I stop them. “There’s only fifteen seconds left, go help Ally. See ya!” I shout before swimming towards the inkling. As I reach him, I cover the blue ink and find him. “Sorry bro, but you gotta go,” I say to him, aiming my Splattershot Jr. at him.

He smirks and says, “I don’t think so.” He then begins shooting at me with his N-Zap ‘89.

“Well, you’re not gonna get me that easily either!” I laugh and tell him as I shoot back. I’m about to die when the speakers start to blare,

10...

I shoot at him, then disappear in my ink.

9...

He tries to find me, but to no avail.

8...

I reappear and attempt to shoot him in the back.

7...

He notices and swims away before I can finish him off.

6...

I swim in my own ink.

5...

We both reappear.

4...

I throw a bomb.

3...

He gets hit and only needs one more shot to get splatted.

2...

I ink as much as I can as he attempts to heal.

1...

We both make a desperate attempt to kill each other.

0!

We both get splatted and the battle is over.

As usual, everyone is frozen and transported back to spawn. Just as I get back, the T.V. switches from the map to Judd. He thinks for a bit, then calls us as the winner! It was almost a complete knockout- we had 90% and they had 10%!

“Yes!” we all shouted in sync.

“We won!” I cry joyfully.

We do our victory dance and meet the other team in the lobby.

“Boom, Bullets. We won,” Ally smirks.

The leader bares his teeth and snarls, “‘Cause you were spawn camping. Bunch of cheaters,” he adds.

“You wanna play like that?” Ally growls, just as ferociously.

“Don’t forget, we have fangs too,” Sarah adds, also baring her teeth.

“And we won’t hesitate to use them,” Alicia spits.

“And what are you gonna say, Splattershot Jr.?” the leader snapped at me.

I step up, in front of my team.

“You’re not worth my breath,” I snarl, narrowing my eyes.

“Good, cause I don’t want it,” the leader snarls, stepping closer to me.

I snapped my teeth together and whispered to him, “You sure? ‘Cause you seem to have a liking for our team. You sure you don’t like us?”

He moved so close to me that our lips could’ve brushed. He pulled his face back and whispered, “Watch your back.”

With that, he stepped back to his team. I glance at the N-Zap ‘89. I find him staring at me. I wink, then flash my fangs at him. He blinks and looks at his shoes.

Acting as the team leader, I say, “C’mon you guys. Let’s go.”

As we walk away, I hear the leader call, “You may have won this battle, but we’ll win the war!”

I put up my hand as if I was shushing him, and we walked away victoriously
