Chapter 6: Happy Birthday!

"AHH!" I scream, throwing my phone at the source.

"Oww!" I hear someone groan in pain.

"OMG I'm so sorry, Sarah!" I laugh, running over to her.

"It's okay..HOW'S IT FEEL TO BE SIXTEEN?" she quickly shouts in my ear once I get close. I rub my ear and she grins, waiting for my response.

"Uh..the same?" I reply.

"Wrong answer!" Alicia sing-songs, walking over from the shadows.

"Well...how about completely spent?" I try again.

"Wrong answer again!" Ally grins, walking over from around the same area that Alicia came from.

"Well, I got nothing," I say, grinning back.

"The correct answer is..." they all say, dragging out the is.

"Amazing!"

"Fantabulous!"

"Stupendous!"

"Marvelous!"

"Sup--"

"Okay, okay, I get it!" I laugh.

Knock, knock.

"Hold up, you guys. Someone's knocking," I say, stating the obvious. They're all smiling ear to ear, following me to the door. As I look through the peep-hole, my eyes widen at the sight that beholds me.

"Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod!" I panic. "The Calamari Cousins are at my door!" I hyperventilate, looking at my friends for help.

"We know!" they squeal. "We invited them over and they said yes!" they continue.

Knock, knock, knock.

"OMG I didn't let them in!" I gasp, whirling around and nearly head-butting the door. I whip it open and almost faint at the sight of them standing at my door, beaming.

"Happy sixteenth birthday, Clarissa!" they chorus. I stand there staring at them, dumbfounded.

"Want to let them in...?" Sarah murmurs near my ear.

"OH! Right! Here, c-come on in!" I stutter. They laugh and walk inside.

"We brought something, if you don't mind," Marie grins.

"Uh--no! I don't mind! I mean, it's fine that you brought something it's really okay don't mind--wait I already said that. Oh no, I'm rambling so I'm just gonna shut up now," I say, blushing in embarrassment.

"Here ya go!" Callie shouts, handing me a cake. "It's an ice cream cake." My eyes widen at the cake that Callie's offering me. "Do you want it? Cause you're kinda just standing there..." Callie trails off, a glint in her eyes.

"Oh, no! I love it! Especially since it's a car, I'm on Team Cars by the way, so yeah. Thanks!" I finish, cutting myself off. I reach over and take the cake, my mouth watering at the sight. "Oh! Umm...do you want to stay to eat it?" I hesitantly ask.

"We would really like that but..." Callie trails off, looking to Marie for help. My eyes follow her's and I look at Marie.

She sighs and finishes Callie's thought. "We have to go sing on the trucks for the Splatfest."

"Oh! Oh, right. Of course, silly me--"

"But we'd love to join you for lunch some other time!" Callie and Marie interrupted enthusiastically.

"L-lunch?" I stammer.

"Of course! You seem like a really nice inkling and we want to get to know you--" Marie began, "And your squad!" Callie interrupted, "--Better," Marie finished.
