~Amelia POV~
The night that he came to my house, I wore my short, curly, unmanageable hair down and I had on footie pajamas that were shades of blue and dark purple woven in as a back round, and laced with silver stars. Yes, I had exaggerated quite a bit on my appearance only to raise his expectation. That night, I could not seem to get ready. I was over flowing with emotions, as I sat nervous on the edge of my bed in my small bedroom.
I heard the doorbell ring and a soft knock on the door; I was expecting that to happen, but I still jumped in surprise. I could see from my upstairs window, it was most definitely him. I sat down on my bed and realized I forgot to tell my family that Dan was coming over. I was only seventeen, and apparently not old enough to have any boys around, according to my dad and my brothers.
My brother, Arthur, looked though the peephole on the front door and recoiled when he saw a boy that he guessed was around my age. He opened the door and glared at the boy, the boy gave a nervous smile in return. " Can help you?" Arthur snapped. " Oh, did Amelia-" He was cut of in the middle of his sentence, " How do you know that name?" He interrupted Dan. " No need to worry... Sir," Daniel stuttered and could not keep his speech flowing; He wasn't sure why he called the ,probably, twenty year old sir, "I am her boyf- Just her friend." Dan nervously readjusted his posture to appear more self confident, and less weak. Arthur closed the door to a crack, and yelled for me from downstairs. I practically fell down the stairs, and smiled knowing that Dan was right outside of the front door. When I started walking toward the door, my dad looked at me like I was a threat, and my mom just gave a kind smile. I'm sure she knew, somehow. Arthur grabbed my wrist, firmly, and seemed shocked, to say the least. He leaned in and whispered," Who is the boy outside? Why wasn't it mentioned to any of us? Me specifically?" I pushed him away and said," I will tell you later. It is no big deal."
I opened the door, then smiled a smile wider than a clown could ever paint onto his face. Dan smiled, too. I responded to his smile with an amorous hug. I could feel his rapid heart beat through his chest as mine pressed against his. I couldn't help but wonder if he was nervous.
~Dan's POV~
The fact that she hugged me was incredible. It was a bit strange, since we had never hugged before, but it calmed me down after the scene with that intimidating guy who answered the door. She was absolutely stunning. She had a bare face and perfectly coiled, curls. She was wearing footie pajamas and a small purple bow in her hair, to mach her clothes. Her figure was beautifully showing through her clothes; She looked as if she was a wax figure- Perfectly proportioned.
"Hey." I said, feeling nervousness well in my stomach.
A smile widened across her face, again.
" Hey, I can't believe you're actually standing here in front of me. This is great." She had a jovial tone in her voice. I noticed the fingers on her right hand rubbing against each other quickly; Something she only does when she is nervous.
" Can I come in? It's a bit dark and cold out."
" Oh, of course, sorry." She said.
" You don't have to apologize, it's fine." Any time I spoke, I felt like I was being unnecessary or too awkward.
" I'll go grab some snacks, and you can head to my room; Upstairs, furthest to the right. We can catch up there, okay?"
" Alright, that sounds good." I said trying not to be too long winded.
As I walked to the stairs, her mom said loudly, " That door stays open."
" Okay. I didn't formally introduce myself yet. My name is Daniel, but you can call me Dan if you want, or whatever you think suits me, you know whatever you want to. You can call me dirt or trash or-"
Amelia entered the room and thankfully interrupted me, as I was getting too nervous and words were just spilling out of my mouth.
" Don't worry to much guys, we are only friends. Yes, I like him, but I'm not going to do the unmentionable, and neither is he. He is very polite and gentlemanly, as well as kind hearted and has a soul made of the purest materiel-" She stopped speaking, and I could only smile at her remarks. Yes, I like him I thought. I giggled aloud and everyone's eyes shifted at me in exception for Amelia, whose eyes were looking at the floor. Her face was red and her eyes were sparkling with tears that never left her.
" Alright guys," her brother said noticing her face, " I will keep an eye at you two, just keep the door open." He smiled a generally reassuring smile.
I went toward Amelia to grab all of the snacks from her. The tears went away though the redness remained. We began heading up the stairs toward her room when a whisper from the living room caught my ear: " She loves him, but I am not supposed to tell you guys, so keep it shut." I could her her mom say. I was sure Amelia didn't hear and I mumbled something under my breath, unintentionally.
" Did you say something?" Amelia said with suspicion in her voice.
" Oh, it was nothing. And I-" He felt the butterflies in his throat, but said it anyway, " I like you. A lot."
