Hey guys this is it!! The second book is right here! Is Jax alive? Is Kayd okay? Are the scouts staying together? Wait and find out. It's gonna be a crazy senior year for these guys!
~Kayd's POV~
It's been almost four months now since what happened on the Black Moon. After we blacked out we had been teleported back to the Training Center, and the Black Moon faded into dust and disappeared along with Jaxon's lifeless body. The atmosphere has improved by almost a full one hundred percent since Jaxon's cleanse, and the climate has also stopped warming. On the bad news, as soon as we gained consciousness that day I ran. My heart is still a pure dust and I'm not sure if I will ever recover from losing Jaxon. I failed to protect him and now he's dead. He doesn't get to become an adult and have kids and a career and it's all my fault, I should have been stronger and smarter. I'm no leader, besides I haven't even been able to transform at all since that day. It's like I've become powerless without him.
My train of thought was interrupted when I heard a knock at my door.
"I got it mom!" I called to my mom.
"Okay, sweety." She answered. My mom is doing really well she's been seeing this new guy, and I think he might propose to her at the rate they are going.
When I opened my door I was tempted to just shut it.
"Kayd, please listen." Crew told me.
"There's nothing to talk about, Crew."
"Yes there is, no one has heard anything from you in months. What's going on. Do you really think this is what Jax would want for you!" He yelled to me. I couldn't control myself anymore as I lunged at him taking him to the ground. I just punched and punched and punched. Finally my mom came and pulled me off.
"Kayd!! Why would you do that!!" She screamed at me with tears in her eyes.
"It's okay Ms. Smith. You come to us when your ready, Kayd." He said pulling him self off the ground and walking away. His nose was bleeding really bad, and his eyebrow was split open.
I shut the door as he walked away. And when I looked back my heart skipped a beat when I saw my mom just staring at me with tears in her eyes. Like I was a whole different person.
"What's going on Kayd." She asked softly.
"It's nothing mom." I said while trying to go to my room.
"Kayd Nathaniel Smith! You stop right there and stand in front of me!" She yelled at me. I haven't heard that tone of voice since I was thirteen.
"Mom, don't worry about me I'm okay."
"No, Kayd, your not okay. Come and sit with me and we can talk about this."
I reluctantly went and sat with her at our kitchen table and didn't say a word for a good five minutes before she finally said.
"Kayd, what happened."
"Mom, did you ever promise to protect someone, and weren't able to keep that promise." I asked trying to keep my cool and not start breaking down.
"Well, yes." She answered.
"And how did you cope with the guilt of not keeping that promise."
"I was pretty heartbroken for a long time, but do you want to know what I finally realized, Kayd."
"What?" I replied.
"That person would have hated to see me going through so much pain, so I thought yes I didn't keep my promise. So I made a new one. I promised that I would live life to the fullest just like they'd want me to."
It was so weird hearing this from her. We never talked about my dad dying and I already know this is who she's talking about. Before I even realized it I had tears rolling down my face. Thinking of Jaxon being gone and now being reminded of my dad is just too much for me.
"Oh Kayd, it's going to be okay. I'm sure you did everything in your power to protect that person. Sometimes fate just has other plans for us." She told me as she took me into her arms.
"At least this person didn't meet the same fate as your father's." She added. I almost forgot she didn't even know that I was a scout and Jaxon had died.
"I love you, mom."
"I love you to, Kayd. More than you could imagine. Hey, don't you have school starting on Monday?"
"Oh god. I completely forgot." I answered while wiping the tears from my eyes.
"How bout we go take you to get some new school clothes. Get your mind off things." She said with a soft laugh.
"That sounds great, mom."
~Awwwwe looks like Kayd's gonna be okay guys!! Let's just hope Crew doesn't hold grudges lol.
