~Leo's POV~
It's been about two weeks since school started and it's already got me buggin out. I mean why the hell do I need to know the vertex of a parabola? Yeah yeah I get it comes in handy for certain careers, but none that I'm interested in. My dream is to go big with my skateboarding like Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, and Guy Mariano. I mean it's a long shot but I know I can do it if I try. I've been practicing along with Crew who isn't planning on going pro but is a pretty damn good boarder. We've taught each other tricks and tips to being a good boarder, and in about six weeks he's coming with me for my first competition in LA.
As for the scouts I don't know what's going to happen with that. At this point Sailor Earth doesn't even exist anymore. Besides the Queen is gone and I'm sure Luna is just being paranoid about this whole new threat thing she's blabbing about. It's time to put that part of my life behind me and really focus on me and my board.
"Leonardo get down here now!" I hear my mom yell to me.
"Yeah, Mom?" I ask while walking down the stairs. My mom is a prestigious lawyer or at least was in New York until her firm transferred her here. My dad died when I was two but from what my mom tells me he was an amazing guy who I really wish I had the chance to know. As for our house it's a pretty average one. Two stories average furniture and stuff.
"God why do you insist on wearing those baggy disgusting clothes." She barked while making a disgusted face. All I'm wearing is a some shorts, vans and crew neck shirt which I guess is about a size too big, but I like it.
"Whatever mom. There just clothes, and I like them why do you like to pick on me all the time?" I asked while sitting down at the kitchen table.
"Because I don't want my son to be some hoodlum. Have you looked into the universities I picked out for you?" She asked while sipping on her coffee.
"No..." I said hesitantly.
"And why is that." She asked with an annoyed tone.
"Because I don't want to. I'm not going to your precious universities, mom. Stop trying to force me to be like you. I'm not going to be a lawyer and you need to move on." I snapped.
"Now you watch that tone with me, Leonardo." She yelled back slamming her coffee onto the counter.
"I'm n---" she stopped me before I could finish.
"You will do as I say and like it! My house my rules. No son of mine is going to be a. What did you call it? Pro skater? You are going to make a nice life for yourself and that's that." She said returning back to her superior tone.
"Oh yeah? Well we'll see how you like being alone when I leave and never speak to you again, and I will do it. You have been controlling me my entire life and it stops now. So let me be me or I'll see my way out of here and away from you." I said standing up and walking closer to her. It actually seems to have affected her because she hasn't said anything back yet. I don't want to be this way to her, but this is all that's going to work.
She didn't say a word to me as she washed her coffee cup and walked out the door to go to work.
"I just want what's best for you Leo. I love you, and I'm sorry." She said before closing the door locking it behind her. She hardly ever says I love you so it really caught me off gaurd. She's been trying to get me to go to these university meetings for two years now and just can't take a hint. I'm going to follow my dreams with or without her support.
Soon after my mom left I ate some breakfast and went straight to the skate park near The Outlets.
"Sup, Leo." Crew told me while giving me a high five as I walked up.
"Aye, Crew. How's the boarding today? Learn anything new?" I asked.
"Nah. Just same old same old. I'm going on a date with Lindy soon so I'm heading off in a bit."
"Ah. Cool man. Hey we going to LA soon. It's gonna be awesome." I said patting him on the back.
"Oh yeah. Your gonna smash the competition. You got this." He said before going down into the bowl and pulling off an Ollie while doing a 360. I joined and started really trying to perfect my secret move the earthquake. Which is basically a wheelie slammed onto the ground and then turned into an Ollie with the board flipping three times in mid air. I've never actually pulled it off, but I know I'm going to! This will put me on the map I know it!
