Sam's PoV

Everything was perfect...until he arrived.

It was 4 in the afternoon, so there were 3 hours left until Denisse's party started. I was getting dressed up, like the rest of my family. My mother told me to take a sweater and to eat something light.

After eating a snack, I see myself in the mirror and chek my clothes. I had my ironed hair down and I was wearing a royal blue shirt, a pair of jeans and flats. My family was already hurrying me up.

  "I'm going!" I shouted back.

On my way to Denisse's house, I looked out the window and remembered when Luke, my older brother, took me to the park for the first time. My parents, Lucy, and Denisse were there, too. I had just finished recovering from a very serious sickness, and we decided to celebrate the occasion by going to city's the theme park.

Without me noticing it, we were now in front of my friend's house, were Lucy's parked car could be seen.

"See? Now we're late because of you," complained Luke.

"Shut up, you stupid bastard," I retorted.

"Stop," dad ordered. "Shut up you both. Now get out of the car, we don't want to be any more late."

Once inside Denisse's house, we greeted everyone. There, sitting at the table were Lucy's and Denisse's parents, as well as Lucy, the birthday girl and her brothers and sister.

We were talking, joking and laughing at each other until it was very late. It was all giggles and laughs, jokes and puns (even though there were some that were pretty lame). All of a sudden, loud bangs were heard from the gate. Denisse's dad stood up and let the person who was doing the noise in, claiming he knew him.

"He's the son of a friend of ours, isn't he, Miguel?" he asked. My father nodded.

"Of course! Man, it's been years since I've last seen you, son!"

"Yeah," the guy smiled, but I noticed it was fake. "May I have a private talk with you two, please?"

  They nodded.

"Sure," they answered. Then they stood up and followed him outside the house.

When they got up, I asked Denisse to go with me to check on that guy, which I did not trust at all. She looked at me for a moment and then nodded in agreement, although her eyes were still slightly insecure.

"Mom, we'll be gone for some minutes. I want to go for something Sam forgt here last time," said my friend while standing up. I stood up from my chair as well.

"Okay," answered her mom, then went back to talking to the other mothers.

We followed them outside when we made sure nobody was paying attention to us. Even Lucy had her mind away from us. We stopped at the edge of the metal fence that was just outside the house and in that same moment, my eyes opened as much as they could while I gasped by the surprise. Denisse covered my mouth with her trembling hands, gazing at the grim view that was right before us.

"It's been a long time since you last saw me...and this'll be last time you'll see me," said the boy, who was standing in front of our fathers' corpses, which were slowly bleeding to death.
