~Flashback~

"You and your stupid families... ruined mine!" claimed the guy, who should be better known as the killer. But none of the girls understood of what was he blaming them for or why, and that made them mad. I mean, they weren't even sure that they knew the guy, and he was saying that they had ruined his life. And in revenge, he had killed all of their loved ones. He overthrew Lucy to the ground with a kick on her back. They wanted to move, but didn't want him to hurt their friend. She couldn't do more than cry nd wait for the pain to come. None of them, actually. They all had woke up with their hands tied up behind their backs.

Weak whimpers could be heard coming from the smallest of the three friends.

The boy sat over the legs of the girl, who was facing down. He took the collar of the dress and made a cut with his knife until it reached her lower back. The poor girl's breathing was made a mess, and so was her head. Then he ripped the brassiere too, as it blocked the way.

"You... were the north star that guided your parents in the blinding darkness," murmured the boy as he pierced Lucy's soft skin with tough and violent movements, tracing a four-pointed star that occupied from the base of her neck to the middle of her back. The girl's pained screams were muffled by the cloth he had put over her mouth.

When the guy finished his first work, he stood up, walked over to the other two girls, took the next one's arm, and threw her a few feet away from the first one. Sam fell down to her knees before dropping shoulder-first into the ground. You could tell, by the tension in her jaw, that she was bitting the clothe that she had in her mouth. The guy followed the same routine with the clothes, but changed a bit after that.

"You... were the shining sun that brightened your parents' lives, the light of their existence," said the killer. And he traced the silhouette of a sun in her back. It was the same size as Lucy's star. Sam felt that her throat was tearing apart from screaming so much. Her chest hurt, and her head was spinning uncontrolably.

Denisse saw the scene happen. Her eyes were open wide and her sight wasn't focused. Her eyes fell on Lucy, who was starting to go unconscious by the blood loss. Then on Sam, who watched her with glassy eyes.

She didn't notice when the guy took a hold of her arm. But halfway to her torture, she took notice of the fact that she was moving, she started to struggle against the ropes. The guy quickly took her by the shoulders and kicked her behind the knees, and made her fall to her knees.  He then pushed her head down to the ground, and with that, she finished her fall. From where she was, she could see how Lucy was fading away.  She then remembered that, if she colsed her eyes, there was a possibility of her never opening them again. Her chest filled with anxiety and fear, and she started moving. She didn't even felt when her clothes were ripped open. The guy stopped her by putting his hand on the nape of her head and pressing her against the ground.

"And you... you were the moon that was always there to light up the dark paths of life..." He started to slowly pierce her skin. "For your siblings, your parents... So they wouldn't get lost, they wouldn't fall..." His voice started rising. "But they were already lost!" The girl felt the cold iron bore into her skin multiple times. The boy was stabbing her, letting his rage pour over her body.

Once he had had enough, he stood up.

  "Well, you were. Not anymore."

  And he left.

~End of flashback~

Sam and Lucy were looking at the ground, procesing all that happened. Denisse took her friends by the hand. They looked at her. She looked at them. They were the only thing that was left for her. She smiled. Now they would be her family, her biggest treasure.

"I guess... we're on our own now..."

  Sam and Lucy nodded.

"Let's make a vow... a vow to never abandon us..." Proposed Denisse, her voice breaking.

"To never break up..." Added Lucy, with her voice a bit steadier.

"To never stop loving each other..." Finished Sam, putting a hand over her heart. Denisse and Lucy immediately followed her. Then, the three of them ended up by saying at the same time: "I swear."

They didn't know it by the time, but their family would become famous. One that, before the incident, they wouldn't even dream of having. And that nobody would know them by their true name, but them.

They wouldn't be Sam, Lucy and Denisse. Not anymore.

A star, a hope that had darkened. A sun, an ilusion that had become cold. A moon, a dream that had been painted crimson.
