cigarette butts scattered across the concrete
ashes crumbling onto the cold, hard ground
the sad truth is around us everywhere
humans are not as sane as they once were
with each generation minds have become more twisted
the clock is ticking
will things get better or worse from here on out?
it depends on mankind without a doubt
killing living things
humans and trees
blaming it on global warming
i'd say they need to warm their own hearts
souls that are shivering cold
personalities used to be bold
now they only want one thing
fame
fortune
anything to get a sliver of attention
but what i really want for myself is affection
neglected and put down
no one bothers to notice my frown
or to glance up at my crooked smile
humanity has left a bitter taste in my mouth like bile
what will be the antidote to cure all?
to catch everyone before society falls
an IV bag full of feelings:
love
care
happiness
that'll do just the trick
beautiful chemicals swirling in your brain
a dose of emotions pumped into blue veins
the lead cause of death by 2100 A.D. would be overdose
or maybe over-joy
