Selena's POV
I had such a huge energy boost. It was like I couldn’t settle down. I finally calmed down and started to get really into my movie when the doorbell rang causing me to scream. I pressed pause on the movie and realized it was my door. I figured it was UPS or the postal person. Postal person is a funny name; it makes them sound like they’ve gone mentally ill. I opened the door and my jaw dropped. Luke was standing at my door. What was he here, and how does he know where I live? This is the last thing I need is more drama other than Ryan.
“Hey Selena I was making sure you’re okay. You hurried out of English really fast and I was worried,” he rushed out.
“I’m okay. I was just not feeling too well,” I replied. I thought he would leave, but he just kept standing there, staring at me. I felt rude for not inviting him in. “I was just watching a movie. Would you like to join me?” I asked politely. I was hoping he would decline, but a part of me was screaming at him to stay.
“Sure. I mean why not? It’s not like I’m busy and I’m not due back home for a few more hours,” he said sarcastically before giving me that melting smirk of his. I smiled back and stood aside while ushering him inside. He was looking around at what he could see of the house when I tapped him.
“The living room’s this way.” I pointed to the living, which was on our right. He nodded and followed me in there. I sat on my usual end of the couch, and he sat down beside me, but not too close.
“You have a nice house.”
“Thanks. Mom and I try to keep it looking tidy and stylish.” I looked around our living room. The room was very pretty, like something you’d see out of a magazine. I don’t know how mom got the money, but she always made good use of it. The living room was a calming blue theme. “Mom is a really good decorator. She did all the rooms, except mine.”
“She is good, but I’m sure your room looks great.”
“It could probably use a little work, but it’s my own space. Most people think its pink, maybe purple, or at least really girly looking, but it’s not.”
“What does it look like?” He asked what it looked like instead of asking to go see it. That surprised me. Most guys wanted to see my room, but none had been in there. Luke seemed special, and I actually felt like I wanted to let him see my room, but I wasn’t going to act on that instinct.
“Well it’s hard to explain. The walls are a series of different shades of sea green. The color is beautiful. The sheets are a deep blue green. I don’t really know what else there is to say about it.”
“I’m sure it’s original.”
“That it is. I like being myself, and not what everyone else wants me to be. I mean seriously, why should I try to please everyone else ad leave myself unhappy?”
“You should never let yourself be unhappy.”
“I know I shouldn’t. I’m glad you at least understand. I wish Ryan would get that. He doesn’t make me happy, and yet all he talks about is how much he misses me, and lo…” I stopped when I realized what I was saying and who I was saying it to. “I’m sorry. I’m rambling on and on about my problems.” I turned to look at him and he seemed a little on edge.
“No, that’s okay. It’s good to vent sometimes. Finish what you were saying.” I felt like I could trust him. I knew I shouldn’t go one, but today had aggravated me so bad, I had to get it off my chest.
