A man is sitting at his desk. He is a police officer, one of the higher ranks. Therefore, he has a place in the head office of the ElfWood police department.

This man is a very family-oriented man. On his desk sits a photo of his entire household. He looks at it everyday. It's his treasure, his will to live everyday through boredom.

Well, he does not have to do many things, except managing the staff. There are also not many cases being reported to the police. ElfWood is a good place.

"Chase?" Justine called.

"Oh hi, didn't see you there." Chase greet.

"Well, I just came here? Are you day-dreaming again?"

Justine was Chase's work partner. They used to be out in ElfWood fighting crime together. Now, they have worked hard enough and has gotten a place in the head office.

"Maybe. And yes, what is it?"

"Err, where do I start..."

"Just say it."

"We've just recieved a report from Japan. It's from the ElfWood Research Team."

Chase was starting to get interested. Mainly because his best friend is part of the research team that is in Japan for a case study.

"What is it about?" Chase asked.

"Something weird is going there. Sheriff is going to hold a meeting regarding that. He will call us."

"Hold on, let me call Jason."

"Alright, I'll tell the rest in the office."

Chase took out his smartphone and pressed Jason's number to call him. However, Jason was not picking up his phone.

Chase tried a few times more. But to no avail.

Then, the Sheriff came out of his office room.

"Everyone, in the meeting room. Now." he called out.

This was the meeting Justine was talking about. Chase's colleagues started walking towards the meeting room.

Chase decided to give up trying to contact Jason and followed them to the meeting room.

The head office was relatively small. So, there were not many people in the meeting room.

It was just the Sheriff, Bill, Alan, Lindsey, Thomas, Justine and Chase. Each of them were in charge of their respective department.

"I called all of you here because of something important." said the Sheriff, "Remember our pact?"

This pact the Sheriff was talking about is a deal among all officers in the head department. It is something like an 'All for one, one for all' plan where the Sheriff ensures their safety. The Sheriff used it for illegal stuff.

Mentioning this pact got everyone's attention.

The Sheriff continued, "We have to evacuate ElfWood. Just us."

"Why?" Thomas asked.

"There was a report saying that there is a virus outbreak. I think it kills people." replied the Sheriff.

"What about our families?" asked Chase.

"Of course they will follow us. Later you all have to get them ready." replied the Sheriff.

"And then the rest of police department and the residents of ElfWood?" Lindsey asked.

"They don't need to know." said the Sheriff.

"Excuse me! Are you suggesting that we just leave them behind? That's what policemen shouldn't do..." Linsey said.

"Well, in times like this, our lives are much more important." the Sheriff interrupted.

"Then I'm not following you guys." Lindsey said.

"Me neither," Thomas said.

"Are you guys insane? Staying here might make you die!" Bill said.

"I don't care. I became a cop to keep order in ElfWood." Thomas said.

"He's right, I'm also not following you guys." Chase said.

"No, Chase has to follow. You have a family. You must keep them safe." said Lindsey.

"But..."

"No buts! So, Alan, Bill, Justine and Chase will follow me. Alright, you all are dismissed. Go and get your families ready and an RV will.be waiting outside your house."

And everyone left their seats and walked towards the door.

"Lindsey and Thomas. Can I have a word with you?" the Sheriff said.

Lindsey, Thomas and the Sheriff were left in the meeting room.

"Listen. Don't you guys ever let anyone else know about this. I will not hesitate to kill you."

Chase is waiting outside the police station. Lindsey and Thomas came out of the station.

"Hey Lindsey and Thomas!" Chase called, "I really want to stay here and protect thus town."

"I know. But you have a beautiful family. You need to spare a thought for them and not to forget Jason's family." said Linsey.

"Lindsey and I don't really have other family, so it's fine." said Thomas.

"Leave now."
