I'm Leonid, and I live in a city called Ilíeria, the only fully elven settlment left today. There used to be more, but the humans and dwarves took them because of their rapid rate at which their population grows. If it were not for the cities they took, we would not have to be stuck in just one city. The dragons would not have gone into hiding, the goblins wouldn't have fled into the forests (mainly Okumdún) and attack travelers. The Oralmsé wouldn't have disappeared... Boom! the classroom shook as the thunderclap sounded the end of the class. I got up, grabbed my pack as Carén said " Leoníd, could you come here for a second?". I consented, walking quickly to the teacher's desk. "Could you cast a certain spell for me?".

"What kind of spell?" I said. This was magic class, every day he'd pick someone randomly and tell them to cast a spell for him.

" I need you to cast a spell to light my fireplace, it's a little cold in here.

"Ignis" I muttered, my palm facing the fireplace.u As soon as the words were out of my mouth, there were flames in the fireplace, burning as merrily as if they had been lit hours ago.

"Very good" Carén said. "Where are you going next?"

"To the arena, to practice my swordsmanship"

"Perfect" said Carén. "Can you take this letter to the swordmaster, Eilon, for me?"

"Sure" I replied. I dashed to the arena, hoping that the swordmaster was still there. He was.

"Hello Leonid, can you help for one second?"

"I have a letter for you from Carén"

"This won't take too long. I need you to summon me a firesword for my next class. I heard you were good at magic"

"Okay" I said. "Magus iignis ensis". A magical fire blade appeared in front of me, then dropped so suddenly I almost couldn't catch it. I was slightly out of breath.

"Good" said the swordmaster, "Now where's that letter?" I handed it to him, and he read it, a frown appearing on his face as he did. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"It appears that your magic teacher is requesting that you take the rest of the day off, because of some silly rumor about an ancient sword that was lost long ago." I at first thought he was joking, but realized that was not the case when I saw how serious his expression had become.

"You've got to be kidding" I finally said. "I am not" Eilon replied. "I suggest you take two close friends with you, someone who is good with a sword, and someone who preffers a bow".

I immediatly knew who should come with me. "Can I take Xenaera and Aelexid?"

"Those two sound like just the right people to take, although they would need their own weapons."

"I could go to the smith and talk to him" I said. "He's not far from here".

"Leonid"

"Yes?"

"What you're doing, it will not be easy, there are many dangers where you're going, and even more along the way."

I nodded, then went to Xenaera's dorm. I knew that if Aalexid saw that someone else was coming, he'd come too. I walked up to the door, and knocked loudly.

"Hey, Leonid, what's up?"

"Caren's asked me to go with him on a mission"

"A mission? Can I come?"

"That's why I'm here"

"Leonid" someone said in the hallway.

I turned around, it was Eilon!

"Ill get your friends some weapons they can use. As for you, I have something special in mind. I'll also arrange for you all to have horses, and food and supplies for the journey"

I was very surprised. The only time Eilon did something for someone else, was to show them wrong. "Thanks" I said.

"You need to be careful" he said, then walked away.

"Well, lets go get Aelexid" said Xaenera. We walked down to his dorm, and knocked on the door. No reply came from inside. "Aelexid?" Xaenera said catiously. We went inside, then the door shut behind us. "It's locked!" I told Xaenera. She immediatly took out her bow and pulled out an arrow. I held up my hands, noticing how dark it was "lux" instantly, a ball of light appeared, floating in the air. Now that we could see, we noticed a note on the table. It read " Dear friends, I have left with Caren on a mission of sorts, if you find this note before 5, I have not yet left, and you are welcome to join me. sincerely, Aelexid" "What time is it?" I asked Xeanera. "four and three quarters" she said, "We must hurry". I quickly said a spell "Ianuae magicae ut Aelexid".
