Chapter 2: The Sorting Ceremony
Alexis POV:
I was beginning to get incredibly nervous as we all made our way to the boats. I ended up sharing a boat with Pansy, her friend Millicent and another girl called Daphne, who I happened to get on really well with. As soon as we saw the castle on the rocks, we all gasped loudly, intrigued by its magnificent beauty.
I followed behind Millicent and Pansy as Daphne and I made our way up to the castle, all the students amazed at its beauty and size. We headed up a large number of staircases before we all stopped in front a strict looking witch; behind her was two great oak doors, it's size intimidating me.
"Welcome to Hogwarts." She began, "Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Now, while you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup."
I looked around In the crowd, hoping to spot a familiar face, besides the girls. I was hoping to find Draco - or at least Ron.
I felt somebody slightly nudge me as a boy jumped past me, yelling "Trevor!" Before picking up a slimy, green toad off the floor. Ew! The witch; professor McGonagall, stared down at him, making him visibly gulp, mumbling a 'sorry' before he went back to where he was originally stood.
"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." She said quickly, before excusing herself and going the other side of the doors. As soon as she left, quiet chattering amongst the students began.
"Daph, you never said which house your hoping to get in." I mentioned, grabbing Pansy, Millicent and Daphne's attention
"It doesn't matter what I'm hoping for." she frowned, "Anything but Slytherin, and I'll get disowned-"
"So its true then!" I heard a oh - so - familiar voice drawl, immediately grabbing my attention. I looked around desperately, before I caught sight of the familiar platinum blonde hair. "Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts."
An incredibly loud gasp left my mouth, my eyes widening and my chest tightening. My head panged as I began to feel slightly queasy. The girls and some other students turned to look at me, but I paid them no attention as I pushed through the crowd, to the front where I was desperately trying to find my brother - my brother, he's here! After 10 years, we'll be together again.
I sped walked over to where the commotion was happening, standing slightly behind Ron. Draco was stood in front of him and another boy. My brother.
"This is Crabbe, and Goyle" Draco nodded to the two buffoons who were stood to his side, "and I'm Malfoy...Draco Malfoy." I heard Ron snigger in front of me, causing me to pinch him on his back, for being rude. And evidentially, Draco heard him too, because he turned to him, a glare spread upon his facial features, "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair, and a hand me down robe? You must be a Weasley." He spat, making me slightly upset, "You'll soon find that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter, you don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." Draco held his hand out to my brother, which my brother promptly denied, simply saying,
"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks."
Draco glared at my brother, but I couldn't help but smirk behind my hand.
"Har-" I went to call out to Harry but just as I did, McGonagall came back, cutting me off. Just as she ushered Draco to move, he caught my eye. His eyes lit up and he smiled at me, making me return it.
