Dreams are definitely an escape from reality because let me tell you, my dream was absolutely golden. It began with me just siting by myself, all alone like the loner I am and poof, Pierce shows up. He pours his heart out, all his problems, confiding everything to me. He took back every mean thing he said to and said I was beautiful as beauty can get.

Then, we kissed and god it was the best kiss I have ever had. Think of it like this, if you tasted the most delicious food in the world you would want more right? Well I wanted more of Pierce and keep tasting it again and again.

Too bad the dream will never come to reality.

I swing my legs to the side of my bed and bow my head. I was too tired for school. It was Friday already and the wedding was tomorrow. I tried my best not to talk, or think about Pierce but as you can see from my dream, it just wasn't happening.

I finally get my lazy ass off my bed and move towards my bathroom. I stripped off my clothes and jump into the warm water. I loved taking showers in the morning. It removed the grimness I felt in the morning and it was relaxing. Also I could think without anyone interrupting me.

"NINA KAVIA BRIGGS! OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!"

Nevermind.

I quickly finish up my shower and wrap a towel around me. I walk over to the door and open it, seeing an angry women who happens to be my mother. I swear I could see flames in her eyes.

"Why did I get a phone call from Ms. Horowitz?" she says angrily, gritting her teeth.

Fuck. "Good grades?" I say innocently.

She looks at my with disbelief. "The exact opposite! I pick up the phone to hear my daughter has been constantly dozing off and has a GOD DAMN C MINUS AVERAGE!"

I wince. "Stop yelling mom! It's too early in the morning and people can hear you!"

"FUCK THE NEIGHBORS! THEY SHOULD KNOW HOW RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL YOU ARE!" she screams at me.

"YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW ME MOM! ALL YOU DO IS GET DRUNK AND LOCK YOURSELF UP IN YOUR ROOM! I USE MY PAYCHECK TO PAY THE BILLS AND WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN DOING? YOU ARE SUH A SELFISH BITCH!" I scream back at her.

She slapped me across the face with a wild look in her eye and pulled my hair back, throwing me against the floor. "Don't you dare talk to me like that. I am your mother." she's says, her voice leaking with venom.

Tears were forming in my eyes. "I have no mother."

She flinches at my response and storms out of the room. I place my head between my legs, still holding up my towel and began to cry.

"What happened to your face?" Trevion asks with a concerned look on his face as I sat down at the desk.

"Fell." I lied and put all my attention onto scrapping my nail polish off my nails.

He gave me a doubting look but stopped talking to me getting the hint that I didn't want to be talked to.

I hated my family. My brother was the only thing making sure I was okay but he was barely home. I had a deadbeat dad and a selfish mom. My cheek was just red this morning but now it was swollen and I had scratch marks from her nails.

"Pierce, you are late. This is the last time before you get a detention." Ms. Horowitz warns him.

I look up and make eye contact with Pierce as he walks by. His eyes land on my cheek and a look of surprise flashes in his eye but disappears instantly. He takes a seat in the back and I see Trevion from the corner of my eye turn in Pierce's direction.
