I inwardly moan as I catch sight of the thousands of posters. Prom! Great. You would think that everyone would look forward to prom! Well. Not me. It's just another event to be humiliated at. Probably why I'm not going.

Readers voice: But Lilly you HAVE to go it's PROM!

Well, unless you want me to be embarrassed, shamed, humiliated on the 'biggest night of my life' you will understand why I don't want to go.

"Hey Lilly! You okay?" I shook out of my thoughts to see a very concerned looking Theo. I grinned at him, giving him a thumbs up to show I was fine. He seemed on edge, tense almost.

"So uh uhm Lilly..." He stuttered, running his fingers through his hair repeatedly.

"Yeah? What's up Theo?" Theo? Nervous? Well this is a first.

"I uh..."

"BOO BOO!" A shrill echoed through the air as Rachel launched herself at my brother who, quiet romantically, was asking her to prom. When I mean romantically I mean literally just going 'hey wanna go?' -_- I know this because Vicky told me before school.

"Ouch, my bleeding ears." I muttered a little too loud. Theo started laughing. Hard. Which attracted more stares. I elbowed him in the side which he took as a sign to stop laughing.

"Right, you were asking?" I like at him, he immediately freezes.

"Ooooh yeah uh I was just wondering, with prom being tonight and all..." He trailed off, I gestured him to carry on, he took a deep breath and said something I thought I would never have come out of a human beings mouth:

"Do you want to go to prom with me?" My eyes grew as wide as saucers.

"It's okay if you don't want to go with me! I completely understand and all as we have just met and all-" I stopped him with a hand and smiled reassuringly.

"Of course I will go with you doofus!" He sighed with relief and drew me into a tight hug. I smiled into his shoulder.

It seems I'm going to prom after all.

-------- home, 3 hours before prom

"Nah I like the other one." Vicky pointed out, taking a hold of the royal blue dress. Basic yet beautiful.

"I agree." I take it from her hands and put it on.

After 10 minutes of modelling and snide comments coming from Vicky we finally decided on the beautiful royal blue dress, it twisted at hip height up to its one strap.

"You look amazing!" Vicky smiles, awe sparkling in her baby blue eyes. But we were interrupted by a crashing sound.

"You look absolutely HIDEOUS! What on earth are you wearing?" My mother's light Amber eyes danced with disgust as she looked me up and down.

Argh, I didn't think Ursula (mum) would be back for another few days... And no she isn't a workaholic, she takes days out for her 'job' in other words, her long list of lovers.

"You can't be seriously thinking of going to prom! You will break every mirror there! The poor students will be traumatised by your rolls! And multiple chins!" She brushed her straight black hair  behind her ear as she examined my clothing.

"B-b-but mother, I really want to go!" I stammered, fiddling with the dress.

"You know what? I'm going to let you go! But tell your brother I want photos of you falling and making a complete fool of yourself! Not that you already do." She narrowed her eyeliner drowned eyes at me, making me shiver at her icy tone.
